Good signing for them.getting business done early,I see they are are in talks with Conor Washington from Rotherham as well and have signed Elder from Hull who was a regular for them last season another cracking signing for league 1.they won’t miss the target this season.

Didn’t realise how Gash Thornilly was until last week when he signed for Oxford but yet we’ve signed a great player from Charlton who no one knows anything about. 🤣
 
Problem with this board is too many people have an obsession with who they know such as ex players, yet the fact is our defense was poor last season and that is being kind. To move forward we shouldn’t keep looking back, we need to let go and look to rebuild with fresh players. Even if players like Nelson, Thornlliy etc stayed and helped us get promoted (ok league 1 is not the Championship) they are not the future or good enough for the championship and not getting any younger.
 
would have liked him here as i thought he was pretty decent and gave his all for us. Ekpiteta is better though but we do need more than one right sided centre half.
 
Nelson isn’t what Critchley looks for in a CB. Critchley wants CB’s who are more composed on the ball as opposed to battering ram type defenders. Marv will likely do the physical stuff and a more technically gifted CB will play alongside him - it’s why even Husband was favoured at LCB over Thorniley at times. I’m really not fussed about Nelson.
I’d love to see us bring Taylor-Moore back to the club. I personally think he’d fit a Critchleys style to a T.

I’ve called Nelson shite for ages if you look back on my posts. Nowt to do with him moving on, I’d have been annoyed if we kept him. If he was any good why would a fellow relegation rival let him come for absolutely nothing??

I’d have kept Thorniley for what it’s worth though.
 
I agree with all that say he was ok in the Championship “comparatively ” speaking.
Good signing for Derby, I would not have been upset if we had signed him, but…Critch knows better than me.

He improved right up to the final couple of games. But bearing in mind a relegation rival let him go & he's in his 30's don't think he's the way forward.

To be fair, I've not rated Thorniley for three years and said as much.

It was because players of his standard were playing regularly that we got relegated.

Cleared balls? Are you serious he sliced it or headed it back into danger most of the time, wake up.

There’s a reason a relegation rival let him go for FREE and nobody in the Championship wanted him.
 
I thought Nelson was ok but I would rather have Taylor Moore tbh and I am surprised we havent moved for him...this lack of transfer activity is very worrying.
 
Nelson was OK but like Thornley had more committment than ability. I'm not bothered by this at all. We can do much better. I'd personally be going all out for Regan Poole myself but he possibly may be looking higher. Either way I think we can and should do better.

Yep - familiar with all of them. Just not the character you happen to mention. For those of us 'not-in-the-know', could you maybe enlighten us?
