Just come through from Knott End towards cleveleys , new byoass open , absolute carnage ,know one nows what lane they should be in , its a joke . Glad to be home safe and sound .

Any idea when the replacement road for Wild Lane is opening. It's been carnage in South Fylde for years too. And now they are pissing about with work to install services near Common Edge and Queensway it looks like the misery is set to continue. It doesn't help keep closing Peel Road and Ballam Road either.

At least the middle of next year.

Walked the dogs down last week to have a look and it didn’t look that far off. Unfortunately there didn’t seem to be many workers working on it 🤔

Questions need to be asked as to why this road was ever commissioned. The millionaire houses on Mains Lane seem to be the only benifactors for this £170,000,000 road to nowhere. Apparently North West highway commission didn't want this road and it was the councils insisting on it, so I wonder how much influence the wealthy had on this build. And as for Kier who have built it it seems like they must have used the whole countries tarmac supply with the thickness they have laid it in places 🤬

I still don’t understand where the frigging road starts or ends, go past it regularly on my commute to leyland. Took well over 70 mins today which is twice as long as usual. I am thick and don’t really pay attention but from Cleveleys to the M55 will this quicken my journey at all? Just seems an unnecessary money pit that has made all the roads absolute carnage at times

Been a bad joke for nearly three years. How on earth can it take that long to change a roundabout to a cross junction, and its still not finished. It was carnage when they first switched on the temporary lights, and no doubt will be again when the permanent ones are eventually switched on.

The only reason the road was opened was to keep to the delayed timetable. Finish it properly before opening FFS!

Got in the wrong lane again whilst attempting to go straight through towards Thornton at the Norcross roundabout yesterday. Terrible I'm lost for words.

Should have been built 40 years ago when ICI and Pandoro we're still going, totally pointless now.

Agree , I lived on Mains Lane early 80's when there were plans for a new bypass , different colour routes , there was a local councillor who lived near the shell garage who was dead against it , and had petition after petition opposing it . The suggestion then was to run it all the way to the M55 .waste of time the current layout .

Absolutely painful this. Backed up down Garstang Road East at the brilliant lights introduced halfway down…

I’ve not paid much attention but when will the road to Windy Harbour be open again & are those lights permanent ?

Its caused mayhem.

Should never been allowed to open till it was finished. Company don’t care and in rush to finish as they already met their deadline of it opening in the autumn of 23.

all that is changing us the bypass will open fully as a dual carriageway and any temporary lights will be made permanent. Traffic lights on garstang Rd is to stay and road ends at Shell and can’t go further towards windy harbour. Windy Harbour is only accessible by the bypass

The bypass does a big loop round another couple of sets of unnecessary traffic lights (they changed their minds from a roundabout) and it ends at the same point at Windy Harbour as the soon to be closed existing road!
Fcuking brilliant.
We’ve lost a perfectly good roundabout in the process for a ridiculously complex set of lights nr the River Wyre hotel.

P.S. It might be better once it’s fully open, but I doubt it will improve much.
In the meantime, I’ve taken to going via Singleton village and also Cartford Bridge to avoid the queues.

Got caught this morning cutting through Singleton to turn left at Shell Garage took 20 minutes from Singleton Lodge to get through… get onto Garstang Road and there’s no cars on there 😂

Then hit the lights halfway down… it’s made a 7-8 minute journey, 25 minutes.

Tonight gave up and turned round.

Brilliant.

Yeah. The main road to Windy Harbour is closed off. Garstang Road is damn near empty and the Singleton lights still only let a few cars out at a time. 🤯

Causing mayhem in Singleton village, ironically people are using the village to bypass the bypass! Traffic through Singleton past the Millers Arms must have increased ten fold, accident waiting to happen!
That's always been my route as I live at the bottom of Hardhorn Rd however over Xmas I could see the traffic flow increased significantly

I could also tell from my sat nav that there were permanent queues on the new bypass even when all other roads were very quiet and though - just wait to everyone goes back to work

And remember the schools aren't back yet !

It's frankly ludicrous what they have done - especially on Garstang Road

My personal update I’ve used it regularly for my commute to work near Bamber Bridge, it’s out an average 20 mins on to every journey and I seriously need to start going through Blackpool to the M55 from now on. As others have said why the F… it doesn’t just go straight to the M55 at kirkham???! Mental. Oh and surely it didn’t have to cross the existing road just after the River Wyre? Set of lights there are going to cause absolute carnage. Again just agreeing with people that roundabout at River Wyre never seemed that bad? Now it’s an absolute shit show

One important safety thing to note: there’s only a couple of lay-by’s on the new road; if you break down, you’re basically in one of the lanes of the dual-carriageway.

I think the reason for the bypass was to lesson congestion when developers build thousands of houses over Wyre
The quick simple easy solution to speed traffic was to make Windy Harbour to Singleton lights dual carriageway
The route taken by the new by pass only as merit if you assume an increase in traffic from Hambleton

I’m waiting to pass judgement on it until it’s fully open, gods knows when that will be. Been on it a few times over Xmas including yesterday coming back from Elswick and traffic was backed up to Windy Harbour at 4.15pm. The back way through Singleton is slow going too. They need to get more workers on it quickly to finish it off.

Had an amusing incident last Sunday morning on the new by-pass.
I was Patiently driving along the clear road in the mid 30s ( speed limit 30mph) when a car came up my bumper. I accelerated to around 40 however he was still bullying me to go faster. We came to the traffic lights at Windy harbour which has two lanes to turn right. He was alongside me and revving up like the start of the Grand Prix.
I could not resist and he had no chance in my electric auto car. Both lanes merges into a single road and when he realised he could not overtake me he started beeping his horn continually at me. I kept at 40 on a 50 all the way to M55 with heavy traffic in other direction.
Maybe a bit childish but it was very amusing and the anger in the drivers face.

I've done it once coming from Thornton to poulton, it was in the evening and I ended up on the wrong side of the road. Very poorly laid out, what were they thinking?

Should av got a gang of chimps from Blackpool zoo to do it, I'm sure they'd av done a better job

I had a similar experience, only some idiot Sunday driver in an electric car was blocking me getting to an emergency...

😡
