New manager

True but not those with a strong connection to the club

I doubt Charlie Adam or thommo would have left us to be Gerrards assistant
I genuinely still believe that having come from Liverpool that Critchley almost felt we were beneath him and he deserved to be in the Prem. He never really said he loved the club or the town and I think the move was always easier for him than for us and why he didn’t feel the need to say Thank You and Goodbye.

Delighted that he has fallen on his arse since leaving us and hope he ends up in some dead end job.

I can guarantee neither would have got the opportunity to work alongside Gerrard, either back when Critch left or anytime in the future. We need bit of realism here, Thommo is at non League Oldham and Charlie is in his first year of coaching, his position is Loans Manager at Burnley Academy so not even in charge of an age group yet.

Sorry i wasn't suggesting that they be appointed although i wouldnt be unhappy with that.

My point was more that those with a strong connection to the club are more unlikely to leave than those who havent.

For those that don't know Thommo is Head of Recruitment at Oldham.

I trust you are not suggesting he should come back to Blackpool.

Very sad to see Thommo operating in non league football, he could and should be working a higher level. Less than a year ago he was in the Championship at Preston. I remember him being great with the players in a good cop role alongside Ollie.

Yes a newly created position in Nov 2022 for Thommo. Oldham should avoid relegation from the National,League this year. I think Thommo was at Preston in the Championship less than a year ago. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Interesting one - does everyone want rookie or experienced? Rookie is the bigger gamble but I do sometimes think a damaged manager who is after another shot is worse!

My personal opinion is that I would like a young progressive coach who would like to grow with the club and take us forward playing our own version of total football .

Just watched an interview with Ryan Mason, might be a good shout if he's interested in stepping out of his comfort zone at Spurs.

Surely depends which league we're in?
We will still be an attractive prospect if we're still in the Championship and would like to think the field of candidates would be far better than the miserly offerings we had to choose from last season.

I have a gut feeling that Charlie Adam will go on to become a very successful Manager and I think he will manage in the EPL and at both Glasgow Rangers & Scotland. My two lads are Bolton fans and they watch lots of Bolton games, they are still not convinced about Evatt especially regarding his team selections, formations, tactics and substitutions particularly in home games. I do agree that experience is important but so is potential, some people are naturals, others with loads of experience are just average, they get sacked and move onto another job and then the cycle starts all over again.

Pete Wild (ex Halifax Manager) the guy who is the Barrow Manager has done an even better job than Evatt, is the reason you don’t mention him is because he has never played for Blackpool? What do you think of Leam Richardson?
I have a gut feeling that Charlie Adam will never cut it in management. I know a few Bolton fans and they all think Evatt is doing a brilliant job. He finishes higher every season, since he first became a manager. Not only have you reared two Bolton fans, an offence in itself, they also seem to have inherited your judgement. 😉

Only messing.

The thing that troubles with Charlie is why he hasn't got a job with our Academy already?
Surely if he was future Manager material we could have got him involved via that route.
Is there something in the background that we don't know?
Just speculation on my part.
Same reason as the club making the lousy appointment of Appleton - bad judgement I guess.

Yes I agree, completely my fault. I was born in St Annes and lived there for 28 years. I was brought up to support my local team which was Blackpool. When I got married our first house was in Horwich and all my kids were born there, hence the reason my 2 lads are Bolton fans. The only reason they became Bolton fans in the 1990s was when the new Stadium was built in Horwich. They only went to Burnden Park once. My 2 lads have been trying to get me to go to Wembley with them on Sunday, but I had to draw a line somewhere, they are bringing me a Papa John’s pizza instead!!

I thought the appointment of Appleton could work.

Not bad judgement. Sometimes things don't work out doesnt make the judgement was flawed at the time decision was made.

Have you never heard of the concept of people learning from their mistakes.
I'm fairly sure Simon Sadler hasn't made his fortune by continually making mistakes.
I think he and Mansford etc. may have got Blackpool relegated by continually making mistakes over a year though.

I'm by no means anti-Sadler - shit happens and I think we'll be fine in the long run. But look at the decision making this season. They've barely got anything right.

Don't know if anyone has already mentioned him, but what about Kevin Phillips?

A fantastic player, former England international and is now doing very well as manager at South Shields.

I don't particularly think we need someone who has previously played for us, but Phillips did have a short spell with us and he was class. Has a load of experience as a player and is doing well in management so far. You'd think that he is the type we would be looking for.

My kids grew up in Old Trafford. One son supports Blackpool and one United.

4-0 at Wembley v the league leaders. We should have appointed him when he was interested!

Do you know my whole problem with this is we could have Guardiola in charge but our recruitment policy means he'll be working with rubbish. A fish rots from the head down and we all know where the problem lies at BFC.
