Just seen online, don’t know where their source is but they have said Blackpool are looking into getting a new PA system ( BRILLIANT NEWS ) and new safe standing for the entire north stand (🙃) no more limbs in there then..

What’s everybody’s thoughts ???
I know the new PA is a brilliant thing and so badly needed but is safe standing needed ??

safe standing should have been brought in years ago. mind you i been going to the Morretti lounge and will do on the 30th. but i would definitely consider it if i was me on my own.

PA system is good news .

The club have to introduce safe standing in the north for health and safety as most people are standing .

I’m sure SS said previously they weren’t looking at safe standing. The North is fine as it is.
The North maybe fine - sadly some of the people who go in there are not - as they wil not listen and sit down!

Ever thought the club maybe getting into trouble for people consistently standing in the North by the authorities?

Maybe it's the same people who mean we cannot sell the rest of the East if we wanted to for some of the large away followings.

...and just for the record, I would much rather stand at football than sit.

Crime of the century! Standing up at a football match. The atmosphere is generated by the people who are standing.
If everyone was sat down we’d have no atmosphere other than the happy clappers clapping along and not singing.

You don’t get it do you?

If the stand is designated seated people have to sit regardless of what you or I think - OR the club are held responsible and punished in some way.

It’s not about atmosphere - it’s about health and safety law!

The only solution to get the club out of this because people will not listen and follow the laws - is to install safe standing.

Have the club been fined for it?

Can you stand up when you score then? What if someone is going for a hot dog or a piss? Can you stand to let them pass? Team breaks away, can you stand as they get closer?

It’s a load of old H & S bollocks.

Will the away end be safe standing then as 3/4 of them always stand up? Is that ok? Let’s not be quoting H & S when we have that shit away end with one entrance and exit.

Or is just the home fans that won’t listen?

Just saying what is going on - you might not like it (and neither do I) but that’s the way it is!

On the safe standing isn't it the case you can't get anymore in than seating allows, seemingly rendering it a bit pointless, bar having the correct type of thing for standing?

But can they not effectively reduce the width of the seats even slightly? As some grounds definitely have less room on thier seats.

So over each row in a block say, you might get 1 extra seat in per row in a block.

When that would add 100 or so into the north stand. Not a lot but a welcome little boost if it was possible. Maybe you could get 2 per row per block, adding double that.

Afterall, it doesn't really matter if the seats are a bit tighter as you're only sat there pre game and half time. Even then with a bar to lean on its not that bad.

So maybe safe standing could bring other benefits not only to atmosphere but a slight increase?

I get why the club are having to do it, but it’s just a load of shite from pen pushers and H & S who have no idea of what actually goes on isn’t it? Painful.

A good opportunity though for the club to create a tangerine wall, find some missing flags and get the 16-24 crew back on board with some decent marketing and pricing.

Is this some new directive for all or is it just pick on the small guy?

I haven't sat an away game since our Premier league season and most grounds there's nearly always a section who stand where's there's seats.

Hasnt Accy Stan got an open terrace. Or are my 65 years old eyes playing tricks. Not the same geography but would stand any time .

Pretty sure that if the club is fitting safe standing in the North it is for two reasons.

Firstly, as ridiculous as the H&S rules are (bit like the 'wear a mask on a train / plane in Covid unless you're eating) they exist and the club will be fined by the Stazi as we have previous for throwing things & hurtful chants.... they love an excuse to show their authority (Cartman style) and will punish us. So put in safe standing and at least it's one bit they can't go at us for.

Secondly most want to stand up in the North so we may as well support it and the atmosphere by putting in the rail system which is deployed almost everywhere in Europe and in the Prem now.

I think its a good thing and progressive. Not worth complaining about.

It’s pick on the club that has had more problems than most!

This chat here shows how out of touch everybody is !!! YOU CANT STAND AT THE FOOTBALL??? in a few years will you even be able to sit ? Or will you have to be lying down? The people in charge need to get a grip and stop ruining our game

Apart from the tens of thousands it will cost for something which is a load of crap.
Other clubs get fined

Man United - Stretford End has standers and have been fined.

Liverpool - Kop has standers and get fined.
Is that's true?
Thought they'd just had warnings which is totally different from getting fines.

United had their away allocations restricted, which is why when they played us in the Prem they had the lowest away attendance that season.

Great trivia question 👍

Dont think so but the pressure is there TT along with potential closure of the stand if not sorted.

The club dont have a choice . Its either make people sit and police it or introduce safe standing.

The club will want to preserve the atmosphere so safe standing appears to be the only option.
It doesn't seem to be a problem at other grounds. They don't appear to be rushing into safe standing because health and safety are threatening to close stands.

And if you've paid £30 for a seat, have dodgy knees, and want to sit down is that H&S bollocks or other people's egoism shining through?

PA system has wanted doing for as long as I can remember and really hope it is being replaced. They did an announcement on last home game and couldn’t hear a thing just muffled garbage
I think the announcement said we are installing a new PA system.

It’s a fair point Pete but maybe the North is particularly on the radar of Health and Safety due to past issues ?

I have no problem with having a dedicated safe standing area, with the rail seats. The point I was making was that I couldn't understand why such an allocation was related to health and safety. If the latter was an issue then most other grounds would have had to change and the east would have had to be converted, because the away fans mostly stand and the East is less structurally safe than the North.
I think they would be converting the North because some fans have requested the option, rather than a health and safety issue.
I just hope they get on with the East as well

You are entitled to your opinion like everyone else, but I thought my standing days were over until Rotherham and I am now suffering from it. Also a long walk to and from my car to the ground
