NHS App Covid Notification

Anyone else had the shout to isolate for 6 days from the NHS App today? I only remember checking in at the Green Man and that was when I thought the QR code would give me access to table service šŸ˜‚

Nightmare

Thread about it below .. personally I haven't downloaded the app for that very reason!

Delete the app.

Healthy people staying home with nothing actually wrong with them use to be called ā€œpulling a sickieā€...suffering from hypochondria or in the worst case MĆ¼nchausen syndrome.

Now itā€™s called saving lives and doing it for the greater good.

The world is bonkers.

Had same notification a couple of weeks ago. A day when I only went to the gym (for a swim) and met an old mate for a McD coffee (sat in his car outside the gym). He had just come from a Covid test as he was working on the Star Wars filming the next day. Iā€™ve deleted the App as it wonā€™t tell me what time, where or who my ā€˜contactā€™ was. Absolut bollu.

I was at The Green Man on Sunday, signed in with the app etc.

But if say I was contacted today, bearing in mind Iā€™ve had 5 days of going out and about as normal, what would be the point as Iā€™ve already been out and spread whatever I may or may not have had?

Not fit for purpose.

I can only imagine you were outside as well? Bar the toilet? So say hundreds in there, any that checked in now have to isolate (in theory) for possibly coming into contact with someone but more than likely not as they were outside.

I canā€™t compute all this, it does not make any sense particularly when there is nothing wrong with them & they've had a vaccine.

And Iā€™m the bonkers one šŸ¤Ŗ

To be honest I think he has a valid point. You can have had both jabs, been nowhere near a covid carrier but still get a txt telling you to self isolate.
Would be fuming if I was an employer having to pay wages and also the employee having to spend 10 days having to isolate...
Deleting the app is bonkers though.

Well the case numbers are continuing to climb and the Indian Variant is now the dominant strain in the UK, estimated to be 60% more transmissible than the Kent variant and up 75% in just one week so the current trajectory isn't currently on the side of those like you downplaying the whole issue.

Cases?? So what? Oh and if you surge test in hotspot areas, cases will go up.

Hospitalisations and deaths are the barometer and theyā€™ve flatlined.

We should not be restricting the country for cases when 50% have been double jabbed and the vulnerable are sorted. This whole thing was to protect the NHS, weā€™ve done that now with the vaccines. There could be 66,000,000 cases for all I care, if hospital admissions donā€™t increase it doesnā€™t matter one iota.

You are desperate for this Indian variant to be a big thing arenā€™t you, sad guy.

Correct, who gives a fuck about cases as long as hospitalisation and deaths are down. Thatā€™s all that matters.

Exactly itā€™s mental.

Many of these cases people have nothing wrong with them? They just test positive.

A case isnā€™t actually an ill person, it is literally just a positive test.

ā€œMore good news from Bolton Hospital. Number of Covid patients has fallen again. Now 34 Covid patients in total, down from 49 last Thursday. Six in ICU/HDU down from 12 on Mon. 3 new admission in past 24 hours but 8 discharges #Covid19UKā€

is that ok for you BHOK šŸ˜‚

I fully get we donā€™t want the NHS overrun (thatā€™s another thread) but the vaccines work against the variants in relation to hospitalisations and deaths & all the data indicates this.

If we are living by variants and cases this thing never ends, weirdly I think some people donā€™t want it to end!

I couldn't give a fuck who contracts it or dies.

As long as me and my family and friends are all well and fine. But then again I can't guarantee that, can I?. Now who do I listen to, them that tell me to vaccinate and be vigilant. Or the ones telling me its a crock of shit and the world government are out to get me?.

Madness, the old had a positive test within 28 days but died of emphysema boils my piss.

Good point BHOK.

Wait until the "Poulton" variant kicks in, these naysayers won't know what's hit them.

When you say things like "a case isn't actually an ill person", I really am amazed at how detatched you are from the reality of this disease. You obviously haven't had any close hand experience of the more severe cases of it.

Whilst hospitalisations and deaths being kept in check will be the most important barometer of success in the fight against this disease, those who suffer long covid for many months or years, often young and previously healthy people, must see such flippant comments like yours about cases and shake their head in disbelief.

Nope thatā€™s utter tripe.

I know loads of people whoā€™ve tested positive and had nothing wrong with them, as will many others. Lots of people who go into hospital for something non-Covid and then have to take a test and are positive (they then go down as an admission).

How are people suffering long Covid for ā€œmany yearsā€ is that you predicting or modelling like Sage?

The virus is a horrible thing for a small number of the population, the reaction to it is nonsensical and totally out of proportion. Weā€™ve protected the NHS and the vulnerable are now vaccinated, canā€™t do any more & your constant negativity and bed wetting is embarrassing.

Roll on the 21st, I just hope Boris has found his bollocks even if he emptied them last weekend.

BHOK

Given that it's a FACT that the average age of Covid fatalities in the UK is greater than the average life expectancy why do I find it so unsurprising that you should choose to introduce "Long Covid" and tell us that those who are suffering are "often young and previously healthy people".

I'd suggest that it is more often that it is the older and/or vulnerable who are suffering and that you know that are fully aware of this, with that in mind I'm struggling to understand why you chose to word it as you did.

ā€œLong Covidā€ is just a desperate shout when your other argument gets exposed, that and the sob story he tried to create which was like an X-Factor audition. Just needed Adele playing in the background.

Heā€™s also gutted the admissions have dropped at Bolton Hospital, hence the sob story.

I cannot comprehend anybody now wanting all restrictions to be lifted. If you are worried check out Texas and Florida.

Canā€™t do links on my phone but just read that if you have had the double jab it cuts your risk from 93% to virtually nothing of catching the Indian variant but it is more transmissible if you havenā€™t been vaccinated.
ā€œ You pays your money you takes your choice ā€œ
All done and dusted mešŸ‘

Spot on Kebab.

It really is that simple.

I'd be interested to know how people would react if financial support was stopped ?

Reports today state nearly 400,000 people in the UK have suffered with Long Covid symptoms for over 12 months. Be as flippant as you like, but if it happens to you, you'll soon change your views.

So is the Indian variant not a worry now and the focus is Long Covid?!

You remind me of the type of person who walks past a beer garden and their first thought is not that people are having a good time, itā€™s that the tables arenā€™t 2m apart.

People like you make me sick, long sick.

Wife just got her alert through - last scan she did was Monday at the service station.
Itā€™s as useful as a marzipan dildo. Whatā€™s the point in letting us know 4 days later?

Just done LF test and negative but we could have been merrily spreading the delta stuff all week

Until two days ago, I hadn't met anyone, or heard of anyone who had been told to self isolate by the app, I got a notification on Wednesday night as did three of my friends, two of whom I haven't seen in the last two weeks. Reading here, loads in the Green Man have the notice and there are many bars and restaurants having to close in Manchester and Salford (where I live) because staff members are having to isolate.

Maybe I have an interest now because I have been told to isolate, but it does look to me like the app suddenly started working over the bank holiday weekend or it threw some kind of wobbler.

I am now in the position where I have had two jabs, had a negative lateral flow test on Thursday and a negative PCR test result this morning but still have to isolate until Tuesday.

Iā€™m getting tired now of having my freedom controlled by the government and it was never more evident than those nasty mask nazis at Wembley last Sunday, so they can stick the track and trace app where the sun doesnā€™t shine. I got an alert about a month ago and isolated for a week and had a PCR test and 2 LFTs all negative but never again. The government has spent billions on these LFTs for personal use and thatā€™s where it now stops for me especially as Michael Gove got an alert but itā€™s ok for him as heā€™s having a LFT everyday for 7 days rather than isolate. As has been said above Iā€™m not interested in the number of new cases as thatā€™s a function of the amount of tests being carried out, itā€™s deaths, hospitalisations, those still in hospitals and in ventilator beds that matters and they are either flattening or dropping.

Not sure ā€˜flatliningā€™ is a term that should be used in this context šŸ˜‰

Just to start your Saturday off well, the above highlights the SAGE modelling/predictions on hospital admissions with their best case scenario on the current restrictions being lifted above what is actually happening, thus meaning there is no reason why remaining restrictions cannot be lifted as the roadmap was based on their modelling and we are way below their best case scenario.

The other good news is SAGE have predicted Preston will win the Championship next season.

Reading the posts above are the farcical situations people are having to self-isolate, missing out on employment, interaction, education etc when there is nothing actually wrong with them, in some cases they have had both jabs and also been tested negative, I mean it really is absolute nonsense and anyone who thinks that makes the slightest bit of sense, then there is no words. Even Michael Gove has fucked it off.

The idea that one of the symptoms is you donā€™t have any symptoms is up there with Owen Oyston being a fan since he was 2.

All Iā€™ve said throughout this is letā€™s use common sense and get back to normal, thatā€™s not being selfish, a conspiracy theorist or showing your qualifications in epidemiology, itā€™s just looking at things logically.

There is no logic now to any more restrictions being in place with the vulnerable vaccinated and the NHS at no risk of being overwhelmed.

However, when the NHS starts getting busy again in the Winter, naturally as it always does, I hate to think what a clusterfuck weā€™re gonna make of it once again because thereā€™s not been much protecting and preparing for the NHS in the background during this shitshow.

Till then though, life now needs to be normal again.

Is now a bad time to say I was at this on the day before going the Green Man? Needless to say, the tubes were rammed with mask-less passengers there and back šŸ˜‚

Canā€™t agree more AKšŸ‘ itā€™s time we moved on and start to live alongside this disease now the vaccination programme is working wonders, we canā€™t keep living in fear although the government want us to!

I do agree with some of this - if you have had the jab, have no symptoms and test negative you shouldnā€™t have to isolate, unless itā€™s someone you are really close to that has tested positive.

ie people in your household or other very close people, partner etc - common sense should apply.

Just to add -

Even here in Singapore - I got contacted by Singapore track and trace last year as I had been in the same pub with a positive case.

I was told to watch my health carefully for two weeks and if I get any symptoms see a doctor immediately for a possible test.

Although, if the person had been in my household I would have had to isolate for two weeks.

Seems sensible to me šŸ‘
