No Yates?

Weirdly if that is the team for Monday I'll be more confident but don't know how I feel it's the team which can beat Cardiff and without that we're gone.
 
Good the likes of Poveda, Bowler and Rodgers are playing.

Disappointed Fiorini isn’t starting!

All in all, still confident.
 
Paul, yes but they all strike you as creators rather than finishers.

I was hoping Thorniley would be back at CH, but Yates is the mystery. Let's just hope there's some shots on 'target' at least !

Yates MUST be injured, which means we have no striker in the squad whatsoever!!

How is Fiorini not playing? If Yates is injured it's no MM's fault, but we shouldn't be in a position where we never got t least one more striker in, it all falls back to the recruitment.

Apart from Fiorini though who else would you pick? Maybe Lyons for Thompson? That's about it.

We are going to have to play football, no hoofing it whatsoever as that will not work. Weak points for me, Connolly as our defensive midfielder and no Yates, other than that we'll have to see what happens. Injuries have been a total curse this season.

It was just my initial reaction to the news that he wasn’t in the squad.

Hoping it’s nothing serious. And hoping it’s not something more sinister involving MM.

Both must be ill or injured. There must be more to Jordan being out than 'sick before the meal at PNE'.
I thought Grimmy would start today but good luck to Maxi.
 
Rotherham have taken the lead V WBA.
If they win they're more or less clear of the bottom & that's not good news for when they play the rearranged Cardiff game.

He was never going to pick the side we have wanted for months ibecause if we start picking up points it's like admitting he has been wrong and cost us championship status
 
FFS, he sets up defensive and people moan and when he starts with an attacking force people are still moaning.
I don’t get all the concern over Jerry being out because as I have said many times he cannot be knocked for his effort but he is by no means a world beater and I don’t think his absence (forced or otherwise) will have a negative effect on how the game progresses.

The whole of that starting X1 today have scored between them a total of only 12 Championship goals in 39 games, Jerry Yates has scored 12 Championship goals himself this season and is our 1st choice penalty taker. Yates also has 4 goal assists in the Championship, nobody else in that starting X1 has more goal assists than Jerry Yates.

I hope Mick hasn’t taken his ball in and is quietly sulking. If Jerry Yates isn’t injured or sick McCarthy has given us the attacking flair we demanded but by leaving out our top goalscorer (12 goals & 4 assists in the Championship so far) will we have a goal threat given that the whole of this starting X1 together have only scored a total of 12 Championship goals in 39 games? Thorniley missing from the Squad is also a big surprise especially after what Mick said in the build up to today’s game.
 
Yet another McCarthy starting X1 I never guessed correctly, that is 14 out of 14 I have got wrong since McCarthy took the job. I don’t believe this starting X1 has ever played together before not even in a practice game at Squires Gate.

To be honest, I'm not sure there were other options other than Grimshaw and Fiorini in.

All depends on the reasons why Thorniley & Yates were not in the starting X1 and the list of subs. I would have also found a starting place for Lyons and would have started Dougall instead of Connolly in defensive midfield and considered Connolly for a central defensive role.
 
Apparently he turned up to the ground before kickoff but stormed out shortly after arriving according to someone on security!

We are an absolute shambles of a club!

*Told now he was late to training and was dropped cos of it!

If true it can surely only be when Jerry found out he wasn’t even on the subs bench. McCarthy’s man management skills are unbelievable, he has had a negative impact on Poveda, Bowler, Patino, Grimshaw, Fiorini and Yates. I can’t think of a player McCarthy has improved — he would probably say CJ and Carey who have been given lots of game time. I think the confidence of the team is now completely gone and there is no point continuing with McCarthy who should be given the OBE (Out By Easter) and can you Name that Tune TC should be given the CBE (Canned By Easter).
