Norburn v Morgan

If you had to choose one, which one would it be?
Early season I thought Norburn was going to be one of our stand out players this season but I really feel that Morgan has grown in to the shirt and, for me, looks the better prospect. I pit those two against each other as I still think we're lacking a bit of a Midfield Maestro alongside them.

Hard to compare them. Norburn is supposed to be more of a midfield anchor whereas Morgan, well I'm not sure what he is really but I think he's supposed to drive forwards with the ball more and create more play further up the pitch.

They can play together. I like Morgan he's got good energy and always wants the ball, he's been much improved recently. Norburn has his moments but I find him a bit frustrating as he slows the play down too much.

Morgan over Norburn all day long, Virtue over Norburn all day long, I'd put Oakley Booth in before Norburn if I'm honest. if we need a pure defensive mid, and Kenny isnt available id probably stick connolly in there.

Both different types of player. Norburn is too slow and is like playing with the handbrake on. Dougall is streets ahead of him this season. As for Morgan he had a good 2nd half yesterday but was pretty poor (as were most of our players) in the first half.

Morgan is still young but has over 100 games under his belt at this level. A very good free transfer and I can see him replacing Norburn as defensive midfielder

Morgan was excellent yesterday. Driving the ball forward trying to make things happen in the final third creative etc. Best game ive seen him play for us.

yep agree. First half yesterday was forgettable all round but in the second half we played much better and Morgan was at the heart of that.

I thought it was between Casey and Morgan for mom yesterday and thought he played very well. I dont really think you can compare them like for like though as one is very much an anchor, the other a play maker who will also put a tackle in.
For me, Morgan would be first choice out of all our midfielders cos he tries to make things happen on the ball and takes a risk on the ball with his passing whilst still when needed playing a safer pass to calm things down. Also got a pretty good delivery too.
Norburn is a bit of a head scratcher at the moment cos as an individual player hes clearly good enough and should play but because he sets the tempo far too slow for us as a team, i think we look better without him in all honestly.
Personally i think we need a top CM to come in especially with Dougall looking like he might be off

I’m just not sure Norburn suits this formation. He tends to play quite deep so with 3 at the back he’s just another body in an already cramped space. In a 442 or a 433 I think he would look a different player as the holding midfielder. At the moment I’d prefer Morgan as he has a bit more energy to do both sides of the game

I agree 100% with your post but much as I hate to say it I can't see a 'top cm' wanting to come to a mid-table league one club. And furthermore I'm not at all sure SS is prepared to fork out for one.

I think thats pretty much spot on.

Morgan plays more of a quarter back role, playing the through ball for the wide receivers in Hamilton and Dale. He does it well.

Norburn looked like a world beater in his first few games, but he is but a shadow of that now. Nobody get that bad that quickly, unless he is carrying an injury. If he is, he’s doing himself no favours by trying, and failing, to play at full pace.
