Now it is Peterborough

There is a distinct possibility that some clubs are going to have to play three games a week towards the end of the season. I pray we don't have to cancel any games ourselves.

What a strange season this is. No fans, wild swings in form, odd results and bizarre scorelines, and the game played column will have large differences in a few weeks.

Having strength in depth, a clean bill of health, and keeping your discipline are going to be absolutely key this season.

The key now is to keep our squad Covid free, keep plying, getting points on the board and get into the top 6 by the 23 game mark and pujing on the door of the top 2. A fixture congestion for these teams will make it tougher and tougher on them.

Added to the fact that some teams will face bigger backlogs is my feeling that most games from March onwards are very winnable

They will extend the season. Is it me or do the numbers look and seem like they are going out of control?

At present the League 1 season is due to end on May 8th. Not sure why the season can't be extended to the end of May if necessary.

January could have a big impact on this point also.

If teams at this level can’t bring in the size of squad to cope with that volume of games towards the end of the season they’re be a lot of movement into and out of the promotion places and playoff places.

The fact we’re probably in a position to strengthen means the second half of the season holds a lot of promise for us

That may give some teams an unfair advantage, in that they could have crowds allowed in May and other teams season would have finished so results could be contrived as they were when we got relegated in the late 70's

Fortunately our discipline has improved

When I played Saturday and Sunday league football we frequently ended the season on rock hard, rutted pitches playing Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays to finish the season off, especially if we were still in the Cups. Playing was far better than training.

Just saying.

And no suspension of the season with points per form. We need to play out a full time table

I realise this comment should be on the Covid thread but I always said there would be advantages to having the second wave of Covid first and the South is now paying a heavy price with theirs coming at Christmas.
