Visited Blackpool today for first time in three years:

1. Staying in Hampton by Hilton on prom - impressed.

2. Tried to visit Pleasure Beach around 3pm - 4 adults not wanting to go on rides - plus two keen kids 18 and 15 - they wanted £45 a pop for the adults and £40 for the kids - so £260 ! We declined and spent £30 on the South Pier instead. Crazy pricing policy - would have paid £25 for kids and £5 for adults - so £70 they missed out on.

3. Mini golf next to Pleasure Beach -wanted £15 per adult and £10 per kid - crazy ! We walked on by.

Madness !

Fairhaven lake with the new mini golf is nice walk and a lot cheaper or abit nearer to the Hampton by Hilton is the beach huts and the pitch/arcade across from the grand.

Didn't know they'd dropped the entry no ride ticket as one of the only Theme parks I've ever been including America to do this it was great for when family visited.

Didn't mind the small price to get in when introduced Blackpool's finest stopped going in and using it as a playground.

£45 for a whole day on the rides isn't too bad but is a bit steep if your turn up late it's £65 to get into Alton Towers!

£45 isn’t bad to ride all day. It is shocking for say a family who’s with their grandparents that can’t do the rides etc that also have to pay £45 just to walk around with their family

I agree but which other Theme park allows non riders in?
Non I've ever been in and done all in the UK and a lot in the States.🤷
I've always been stung as the misses hates rides.😁

Alton Towers have never done it from memory, Thorpe Park don't do it, Chessington don't do it etc...

I suppose it must make sense to Amanda, I assume they make more money with this model.
It’s taken yet another thing away from local kids, though, who used to be able to bimble in with a little bit of pocket money, not to mention the amount of OAP’s that used to meet up for a cup of tea and a chat.
With the price of some of our attractions, you can see why a lot of families go abroad.

When it was free to go on the PB it was a really sociable atmosphere. It would be teeming with folk of all ages and, of course, everybody spent something - even if it was just to buy donuts or have a go on the hoop-la. Now it is a soulless money grabbing operation. The last time I went on there the laughing man was relegated to the bridge over the Tom Sawyer rafts and even then you had to put 20p in a slot to make him work. Soulless.

Someone needs to tell BPB there’s a recession going on, do they seriously think that people will be able to pay that sort of money with gas and electric going through the roof and everything else going up?

Theres a big difference between BPB and the likes of Alton Towers and the other parks mentioned and that is BPB is actually in the town and not a destination venue, destination venues don’t miss out on passing trade because there isn’t any, BPB are missing out on fortunes of it.

I’d gladly pay for my grandkids to go on the rides all day there but no way am I shelling out on £45 for the pleasure of watching them do it, factor their tickets and your food and drink and parking for the day and it’s an expensive day out.

When visiting during the last two football seasons, we intended to take our grandson (4yrs then 5 yrs) in the PB to NIckelodeon Land, with us observing & into (not up) the tower, and the prices were obscene. We wrote to both explaining that we just wanted to give a young boy his first experience etc and received a 'take it or leave it reply'. So like you, we did the rides on the piers & in Coral Island & we'll do the same next week before the Boro game.
They're ripping people off to make up for covid & will lose out in the long term

I remember the sociable atmosphere on match days and Saturday evenings in the 90's when I worked there ,I wont even go into the madness that occurred at Ramadan 😂 😂 😂

That would be a brilliant gesture Michelle 🧡
Sometimes we also get invited to hoteliers nights which are pretty good only ever been to a couple with me being a busy woman. Normally includes a meal and an evening of different cabaret acts etc. also Xmas night out normally held at the Viking hotel again it’s a fab night. Will post as soon as I receive anything so if anyone wants to go they can do

Thats what I used to do when I lived on Withnell road, wander in and just go on the haunted swing! (is that still there??). Happy days. 🥲

It’s free to go into the tower building

I’ve only been back to the PB once since they got rid of the Wild Mouse. That was one of the best rides there, especially if you wanted to go on sick leave at work with a bad back 😂

Pleasure Beach seems expensive - especially for non - riders ! I can see why they charge a fee .. as it was costing them a lot in securoty and hassle with kids just going in for free and causing havoc...

I was absolutly gob smacked by the zoo price last time I came over and it was the ''special '' winter prices!

I have wonderful memories of the PB from my youth, including all those old rides and the FunHouse.....

But I doubt that I will never set foot in the place with my daughter, based on the obscene prices that Amanda Thompson has set; she can #### right off and stick The Big One where the sun don't shine (assuming you know who ain't there anymore) 😜

Grenade incoming !!

No problem spending £100 for a football away day (90mins) with the lads though eh?

Funny old world

Disgusting 585. I don't even think it's to make up for Covid. It's just greed. They need to relearn who their customers are.
