Just wondering if we have any AVFTT Barry Normans who have been to see this Kenneth Brannagh Belfast Film that's on at the moment ?

I've not been to the pictures for more than 20 years but I'm thinking of going to watch this so I am.

Any views ?

Looking forward to it. It’ll be a cracker (so it will…)

thread with just a couple of posts on the other forum so don't think you'll get many replies. Great film basically centred around Kenneth Branagh growing up as a young boy in Belfast with the troubles.

I am going to go and give it a try.

I can't believe how cheap it is at the pictures, it's only £4.50 at St Annes.

I think it was more than that when I last went 20 years ago.

Only Judy Dench the only non Irish actor in the film.

Best line, "There were a lot there for his funeral "
"Aye, he owed a lot of money!" 😁

Fairly decent movie....Loved the scene of Buddy's mum taking him back to the supermarket with his plunder..
And Morrison on the soundtrack makes it even better......a decent 6.5/10

I've lots of time for Kenneth Brannagh, one of our very best at what he does, will definitely watch it when I get the chance.

Watched it last Friday at the Odeon - there was only 15 people in the cinema 😧

The film was at best OK - but that’s just my opinion.

I watched it at the cinema last night, there were only 3 including myself. The film was okay, maybe 6/10.
Judy Dench was again too old for her role, as the last couple of James Bond films. She is the partner to Ciaran Hinds in the film who is
about 20 years younger, and the mother of Jamie Dornan who is almost 50 years younger.
While there were entertaining moments and a couple of moments that made me smile, I would not watch the film again.

I really like St Annes cinema, I got dragged there half a dozen times pre-lockdown for Frozen 2!! Cheap seats, no ripping you off on the sweets & popcorn and on one occasion it was a private showing so we picked the best seats!!

I do fancy watching Belfast myself.

Never mind miserable Van Morrison... does it feature Boney M’s 1977 magnum opus “Belfast” ? All together now...

Unfortunately, the Odeon here in Lincoln is one of the most expensive in the country. £8 even if you go at 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon!

Yep 5 pounds during the day at our local cinema.
That’s less than a pint in certain local pubs.

Yes Hamps, I couldn't believe how cheap it was, I'd clicked on a quiet time and thought it was a special deal, I couldn't say for sure but I think it's £4.50 all the time.

Luckily for us we can still get a pint and a half for £4.50 on the Gold Coast.

Yeah dead cheap at the cinema these days. £5 all the time at the Vue in cinema. Took my little girl nit long ago. Then bought 2 medium popcorns, a medium Americano, a bottle of Sprite and it jumped to about £34!

Do you need to have watched the first four before you see it?
There is only one series its series 11 ,,,,,(that’s me trying to do Roman numerals not number 11)
series 11 was filmed before series 1 but after series 111 &series 1V, the director of the films was going through some sort of mental breakdown because of erectile dysfunction, after lots trails with different tablets I found just the one for me
anyway back to the director he popped a shed load of viagra connect & went totally bonkers, he set fire to all the reels of film
luckily there was a Sherpa sat in a tent nearby having a brew & it turned out he had found series 11 out n the bush when he was hunting for badgers

Watched it last weekend. Highly recommended.
Poignant that it is almost the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday too.
