O/T - Bunk Bed Advice

A bit of a random one, but having problems looking for a bunk bed for my grandkids.
I’m a bit paranoid about my 3 year old grandson (who would be on the bottom bunk) doing the obvious and exploring when left alone, so have been searching for a bed with a removable ladder, but no joy whatsoever!
They all seem to be built with the ladder as part of the frame.
Does anyone know anywhere that does what I’m after, or of a bespoke furniture maker?

Is it Ex-Beds (AVFTT poster) who does the rope work? If so, I was even thinking of asking if he could do a pull-up rope ladder that I could integrate into a standard bunk bed?

Any suggestions appreciated.

The answer why you can't find removable ones is because the little darlings could disturb them and it fall off whilst they were on it.

Is it for occasional use? You can get a single bed with a pullout underneath 👍

We have metal bunk beds at the hotel and you just attach the ladders last so you just wouldn’t put them on. I could take our ladders if if we needed to

I see the point about loose ladders 👍

It’s for a small box room, unfortunately, so no space for pull out.
I’ve just discovered a device called a ladder guard, so will look into that option.
Thanks anyway

This firm is expensive but the products are bombproof. Me & Mrs FN have used a double bed for more years than I care to remember and we have a set of their bunks in the spare room for when the grandchildren visit

Thanks for everyone’s input (especially the safety warnings!), ordered a bunk bed with fixed ladder and bought a ladder guard.
If it doesn’t work I’ll just hog tie my grandson before bed.
😁

It’s weird, but I’m more worried about my grandkids than I was about my kids. Is that normal?
It doesn’t help that my 3 year old grandson seems to think he should be in Valhalla, I call him Suicidal Sid!!!
Totally fearless - that’s him in my profile pic.

Oh God I hope not, I haven’t got grandchildren yet but can’t cope with any MORE worry when I eventually do!

Suicidal Sid is gorgeous… what a cute little boy! 😊

Yes that’s normal, they’re not yours, but stop fretting honestly. We ended up letting our grandson do the stuff his mum n dad wouldn’t ie: going higher on swings climbing higher on the climbing bars etc. he now laughs with us that mum/dad were worrying warts lol.

My old man has doted on and worried about my 2 lads who are 24 and 22 now since they were born.

When I was a young un I never thought he worried much about me. I did what I wanted (nothing criminal really) from a certain age…about 15 and he was at arms length as it were……BUT that’s probably just my recollection and probably bears little resemblance to the truth potentially

It’s definitely normal. I’m exactly the same with my granddaughter and I can’t work out why. It’s weird.

It’s cos you're older (a codger 😁) rather than younger
