O/T: Debut Albums That....

John Lennon, Plastic Ono Band. Minimalist and brilliant. John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Klaus Voorman and, occasionally Phil Spector. I would say that Ringo is at his best. In a minimalist 3 piece you have to be sharp and on the button timing wise. Ringo does this excellently.

Marquee Moon - Television
Ramones - Ramones
77 - Talking Heads
Closing Time - Tom Waits
Yesterdays Gone - Loyle Carner
Londinium - Archive
It'll End in Tears - This Mortal Coil
The Affectionate Punch - Associates

In 1967 it was “Days of Future Passed” Moody Blues orchestral production,
1971 (correct me?) Led Zepp
Suppose folk will add to that according to generation. They for me….and others after!

PiL . Metal Box. Got a couple of tickets today to see Jah Wobble perfom the album in full next year.

And connected in a way to PiL you could say The Sex Pistols debut was a fair effort in fairness.
I'm sure I had that back in the day. One of those that got lent out and never came back.

Lot of good shouts already.

Interpol - turn on the bright lights
Yeah yeah yeahs - fever to tell

But being 40 and northern i'd have to say top 3 are Stone Roses, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys.

Gonna bust the rules now and put forward ‘Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’ Spread Your Love!

Very early for me Led Zep but the two cassettes (google it young 'uns) passed around my playground both total unknowns, Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells and Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf.

How could I overlook the debut album by The Only Ones? I first saw them back in ‘78, hell, much more than half a lifetime ago.

It was a wonderful show last night at the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge. The sort where you finish drenched with sweat from dancing all throughout. They finished the main set with Another Girl and finally an epic version of The Beast.

For those of you lucky enough to be going to the Rebellion Festival today, you are in for a treat when they play at about 9pm. It might be just about the last chance to catch them live, as Perrett intimated as he left the stage last night. “See you in another ten or twenty years”, he said.
