O/T - Gigs for 2023

What have you got lined up?

So far:

Musical Box at Cambridge Corn Exchange in February
Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs; Cambridge Junction in March (My prediction is that these guys will be headlining Glastonbury in 3 or 4 years time)
Jim Jones & his Allstars at The Portland Arms in Cambridge in May, Marc Riley's favourite live band
Soft Cell, OMD & Heaven 17 at Audley End in July
Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds and the Zutons, Audley End in August
Cambridge Folk Festival *Depending on who's on in August
Musical Box are brilliant. Any early era Genesis fans will love them.

I know I shouldn't say this but I thought they sounded better than Genesis themselves

Bit of info herts, The Musical Box tour in 2024 is SEBTP dates TBA

First Aid Kit in February, In Hamburg.

Bicep on St Paddy’s Day in Dublin

The War On Drugs at the Piece Hall in Halifax in June.
Seen war on drugs over the years from the deaf institute to massive venue in Amsterdam last year
Great Americana - draw a lit on 70's and particularly 80's AOR .Good band and contemplating the Halifax show ,

Brian Jonestown Massacre - London, Feb
Arctic Monkeys at the Emirates
Hoping to get a ticket for Pulp’s tour through ticket exchange

Firstly I see a couple of you went to The Chameleons at the Waterloo last night . . . what a gig that was? I've seen them many times over the years but that was right up there . . great venue, great crowd and really intense performance. I'd seen them the night before at the Academy in front of over 2000 which was great but this was even better. What a band.

Next year -

Hamish Hawk - Gorilla, Mcr and hopefully more.
Ist Ist - King Tuts and Ritz . . hopefully more
Pale Blue Eyes - Edinburgh
The Murder Capital - Albert Hall, Mcr
Duran Duran - Mcr Arena
Suede - Albert Hall, Mcr
The Chameleons - a few times
The Mission - a few times
War on Drugs - Piece hall, Halifax
Abba - for second time as it's so good
Bunnymen - Edinburgh

Hopefully many more . . . been to 41 this year :)

Got tickets for Damien Rice, Father John Misty and Ryan Adams in Manchester
Thinking of adding Hayseed Dixie at Gorilla for a laugh

I would love to see Gabriel at the AO...... but at £460 for 2 tickets in a half decent seat on the side, it's just taking the pi##

That's some going
First time I saw Chameleons live and it was great gig - caught up with people I see at gigs
Sure I saw Hamish at Bootleg

Was fantastic wasn't it . . like being taken back to 1983 for 90 mins :)

HH played at the Bootleg towards the end of 2021 . . unfortunately it was the same night as ACR in Preston so quite a few who would have gone were in Preston.

He used to work in the record shop I go to in Edinburgh and is a lovely bloke . . . think he'll go on to do really well. Great songwriter.

Brian Jonestown Massacre - London, Feb
Arctic Monkeys at the Emirates

I’m at the Arctic Monkeys at Sheffield.
Wet Leg later in the year

As a cheesy claim to fame, I used to work with Travis Threlkel over in San Fran (top lad!) and the wife told him she’d never heard of his band 😂

Aussie pink floyd. Went to see them a month ago. They did the best Comfortably Numb I've ever heard, and that includes the original floyd.

Def Leppard at lytham (I’ll be at the bar wearing headphones when motley crew are playing 🤣).

The Damned and Suede, both in Liverpool. Last saw the Damned 1982 Leeds Warehouse. They'd had all their gear nicked and were using support band Tenpole Tudor's gear. The Captain described it as "Tenpole's wanky guitars"😁

The Brain Jonestown Massacre - Norwich Feb
The Moldy Peaches - Roundhouse May
Amon Duul 11 - London May

Want to see The Umlauts - Sniffany and the Nits - Jockstrap and Sorry.

RIP Mimi of Low.
