Not sure if this is an age thing but despite not really increasing in weight (in fact am lighter now than when I was in my 20’s) - have noticed the old middle aged spread taking effect (think Christmas was the killer - all rich food, no exercise).

So tips please - is it all to do with diet, certain exercises, running/cardio - everywhere else is fine and I don’t want to be the next Rambo but not enjoying the blobby bits!!

Diet is crucial

Check out the free app MyFitnessPal, you can log all your daily eating and it gives you a breakdown of your calories, fats, protein etc

You want to find your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure), this gives the calories you burn on a daily basis.. There are free calculators online to find this out. You then want to eat 5-10% under this figure a day, to lose weight/bodyfat. Easy

Getting the diet right is key. Generally speaking you cannot out exercise a bad diet. No refined sugar, low carbs and for weight loss a calorie deficit intake to what you are burning off. Needs to be healthy with sufficent balance of veg, fruit, protein.

'Diet is crucial'. Is it? I eat like a horse and have no spare fat on me. No 'love handles'.
I would say that it's in the genes.
As long as I can remember non of my family has been very overweight.
