I personally thought it was shockingEscape To Victory
I.D.Considering the world’s obsession with the great game - has there ever really been a good football film bearing in mind how much skulduggery and scandal is involved in the great game!
I’d never put Escape to Victory in the category of good films. I do bizarrely love watching it though just because of the footballing legends involvedI personally thought it was shocking
You beat me to it.The dammed United was decent.
Escape to Victory has to be one of the most Corny movies of all time.
So bad that it is worth watching!
“Away days“ is OK based on Tranmere fans in the 70’s.
Anyone remember “Yesterdays hero”. Ian Macshane and Adam Faith around late 70’s.
It seemed OK at the time but probably naff now!
What about the Monty Python sketch playing against a team of Long John Silvers? There is a few times over the years that our back four have resembled that sketch. The problem with football films is when they show actual football. It’s never been realistic.
Damned United is very goodwhen Saturday comes(if you follow Arsenal).
or the damned United the Brian Clough one.
I will be the slightly balding Bobby Charlton ️The Football Factory was alright.
The bit in Kes when they have the football match at school is quality !!
All the official films from the 90s back are ace, West Germany 1974 looks bleak as fuck and they didn't try to hide it.Goal, the official film of the 1966 world cup
A shocker! Truly awful filming which made an exciting cup final unwatchable.Goal, the official film of the 1966 world cup
when Saturday comes(if you follow Arsenal).
My small claim to fame was being an extra in ID. Most of the gangs were made up with unemployed musicians from local bands who couldn’t punch their way out of a paper bagI.D.
Hands down
Michael Sheen is excellent as Brian CloughDamned United is very good
Yesterday's Hero with Ian McShane doing his best George Best impression. Probably dated very badly, but was of the time.
I liked the Damned United but the book was miles better, you didn't hear the internal monologue in the film which made the book.
Mike Bassett is ace 'Ron Benson and Tony Hedges'.
'Let's talk through the positives shall we? Ok Doddsy...'
It is hilarious, especially the bit where Donald is taken to the cleaners trying to sign Will Grigg, it's like something from a mockumentary.Mean machine?
Green Street?
There was that one that looked really good on prime actually... what was it called..? Oh yes that's it... "Sunderland 'til I die"
When it came out and all the lads were lusting after Dee Hepburn, I was looking in a Clare Grogan direction.Gregory’s Girl
I saw it when it came out. England F....a great episode. Apparently Ant &Dec redid it it ahead of one of the more recent World/Euro competitions. Now, I didn't see that one so I can't call it but I understand the reviews weren't good.Reminds me of The Likely Lads episode where they're trying to avoid learning the result of an England game until the highlights come on the telly later.
Funny episode (it's one for the older readers on here really), worth watching if you can find it
