Was he on a day trip from Bumley? It was 72 years ago and a very large turd sailed past my nose, never been in again
It's more likely the rash came from someone you 'met' in the nightclubAbout 30 years ago went skinny dipping after a nightclub (don't remember which one). Came out in a big rash. Never been back in

You could swim aged 8? The tide must have been a long way out.Around 43 years ago when I was about 8 years old. My mum took me and one of my school friends down to the beach and we had a splash in the sea. Came out after about 10 minutes with a 4 inch long gash up one of my legs, hadn’t even felt a thing while we were swimming around. Never been back in since.
You may recall a good friend of ours used to go in the sea occasionally and ended up with the lifeguard called out on two separate occasions about 8 years apart. Both times made the BBC NW newsWhen I was a kid in the mid/ late seventies, came out looking like one of the kids in the old readybreck adverts, bnfl sellafied has a lot to answer for
You only need to be able to float though - it’s like the Dead Sea but substitute high excrement content for high salt contentYou could swim aged 8? The tide must have been a long way out.
About thirty years near ICI they was a pipe pumping a green /blue liquid into the seaWhen I was a kid in the mid/ late seventies, came out looking like one of the kids in the old readybreck adverts, bnfl sellafied has a lot to answer for

Yes that's it. Jumped off Bernard Delfonts. Got cramp and had to rest on one of the pier legs. Someone saw him and called the coastguard. By the time they arrived the tide was on it's way out and the water was up to the waist of the rescuer. He could have walked back!Ahh, forgot about that didn’t he jump off the roof of the bar at the end of the north pier.
got pretty cut up by the barnacles on the pier legs?

Happened again a few years later when he fell in after a session on Sunday lunchtime in a pub in North Shore. He was still holding a beer bottle above the surface when he went under. Obviously where his priorities lay. Think he genuinely needed rescue on that occasion although he denied it.
Same here, but I was covered in them, about the same time as well. Around early 70s.47 years ago down at Starr Gate, I remember lying down in the shallows & floating about on my back, came out with a few creepie crawlies on my back. Never been in since.

It’s been clean for a while, but when we were growing up it was a cesspit, a can remember swimming and seeing turds floating past but Now it’s all good.I swim in the sea as much as I can when it's warm enough. The last time was a couple of weeks ago in the heatwave. There's nowt wrong with the sea in Blackpool and people should actually research before condemning it for being full of shit. The beach even won a prestigious Blue Flag award in 2016 and National Awards in 2022, see link below
