O/T - Ma Rainey's Black Bottom - Netflix

Just been watching this movie on Netflix. If you like music and particularly the Blues this is an absolute diamond.

Chadwick Boseman in his last movie role before his tragic death is the troubled but brilliant trumpet player in the band and if this performance doesn't win him an Oscar then there is no justice. He even learnt to play the trumpet for the role. Viola Davis is Ma Rainey, a force of nature is also brilliant. As awful as Mank was, this is brilliant so if you want to while away 90 minutes then this is well worth your attention.

Yeah, sorry to disappoint. The missus - who controls the remote - gave up on it after about 20 minutes.

Beyonce as Etta James is brilliant, as are all the cast.

Loved this film - it's based on a play, and my only criticism is that if feels like a play, not a movie - but what a great play! The performances are absolutely top-drawer. It's got to be an Oscar contender.
