Request for info please.

I'm on o2 5G and on match days from around 2pm until 6pm I have no mobile connection. No calls, txts, app access etc. Zero.
And yet many people around me seem to have no problems with access to all the above. All different networks.
I rang o2 this week (and explained the problem ) and they have sent me a new sim card suggesting it should be updated every two years.
First I've ever heard of a regular sim update required. It it doesn't work for the Millwall game I'm changing network providers.

Could people let me know what network you are on and if you have any problems accessing your phone prior to and during the match.
It will help me make up my mind as to which network provider to move to and also give o2 some general feedback about access.
Thanks

I've always struggled with signal within the ground. Used to be on Vodafone and it was incredibly slow, if it ever did decide to load. A few months back I switched to Sky and it's even worse. Not only will not load any internet stuff, but seems to not have any phone signal in general, and takes a good half an hour to return after the game.

To be honest, Sky seems pretty shit. There are certain areas around Manchester (city centre) where the signal is just none-existent.

I've not heard of a regular SIM update, but might consider speaking to Sky, because it drives me insane.

I think you'll find this is o2 in general. Basically when other companies cut the roaming (which a few have introduced back) o2 kept theirs and they took on loads more customers.

Try using it in town in general on a busy day and you'll struggle, o2 is massively over subscribed and they don't have the infrastructure to support it.

It's shocking in Bispham and Cleveleys too. I've got a complaint with them ongoing and they gave me a a goodwill payment when I proved how shit it was to them but as soon as my contract is up im off.

I was with three previously and they were very good I found, I only left them because they cut roaming out of my contract and I travel a fair bit to Europe.

Exact same as you. On Tesco (who use O2’s network) and from anywhere in the vicinity of Bloomfield Road and sometimes further afield, I get nothing. Those around me on Vodafone esp are sat merrily texting away, checking results etc. We did get a wifi sponsor but I’ve seen nothing about enabling it in the ground for fans.

I could/can stream the game on my phone with a VPN on 3 and now EE in the North of the west.

I think EE is a bit better than 3 and I was on O2 10 years ago in the south and my phone was a brick, while my mate on 3 could do what the hell he liked.

Never looked back......

Same, I'm on O2 and it's shocking around the ground, but it's generally poor everywhere to be honest. I'm always having problems. Only went to O2 for the Volt benefits.

Do you flick the WiFi off on your settings when in the ground?

Used to have same issues until I did this and now it works perfectly fine.

Me too. On Tesco (O2 platform). Absolutely nothing. Might as well be on Mars.

Sounds a simple solution. What network are you on?

I also switched from 3 to O2 when 3 scrapped free data in Europe, I now find reception not just at Bloomfield Road but even the other side of Revoe Park, all the way up Bela Grove etc terrible. Just thought it was a Blackpool thing as don't have a problem with 02 reception elsewhere eg Manchester

Until recently I had BT mobile, which was on an EE platform. BT own EE. That had no problems at BR.
Recently, my contract had come to an end and I approached BT for a better deal. Interestingly, they moved me onto a direct EE contract, which is cheaper, has more download and has new SIM card capable of 5G, where available. So even better performance.
I have had a few other networks in the past, but none as good as EE.
