O/T Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing

It's a unique programme because it doesn't dwell on men talking about cars, football etc and other cliched male distractions but instead the real stuff of life.......emotions and feelings and how they affect us all and how we're better friends, partners etc when we talk about how we feel and how it all affects us and the ones we love. The fishing is incidental, the expressed friendship is important.

I say it all the time, not just when I'm watching. When I put something back in a drawer for example, press send on an important email and even sometimes when pulling out and merging with traffic on a difficult junction...

And...awaaaay.

Lovely sentiments, but I’m afraid I’d have long since chucked Mortimer in the drink and drowned him for being the shittest fisherman in the world.
 
It is a true tv gem giving us 30 minutes of paradise away from this screwed up world we currently live in. The program has everything. Beautiful scenery, fantastic photography, humour, sadness and is a brilliant observation of two friends who clearly love each other.
 
Two of my all time favourite comedians. I only have to see Bob’s face and I start smiling.
Great programme, and I don’t even like fishing.

But isn't that the point? True, he is a useless fisherman but a truly good friend. The programme simply reveals how wonderful male friendship can be when we get past the irrelevance of distracting, segregating male hobbies such as golf, etc. Women have these important relationships based on companionship and intimacy and those are some of the reasons they live a longer, happier, healthier and more content life than we do 🙁 I'm very envious.

He’s not even a good friend though… He’s like some kind of sad, desperate, needy energy vampire. It’s obvious Whitehouse feels sorry for him and is doing his best to help, but he’d probably have been better (in the long term) just putting him in a home and taking Robson Green instead 👍
 
It's one of those programmes you can have on and walk into the kitchen for a glass of wine or make a brew and come back and not feel like you've missed a lot which is not a bad thing.

Add into that the same bloke droning on about his depressive, health-issue ridden life, whilst telling unfunny jokes to his catatonic / miserable pal…and then rounding it off with a display of shit cookery.

It’s not my idea of entertainment 😂

I think it is harmless, feel good entertainment and sometimes that is what people need.

Feel Good ? It’s possibly the single most depressing thing I’ve ever watched.

It’s two middle aged blokes behaving like old men way before their time. The pair of them need a good shaking. I’ve met blokes twenty years their senior with more get up and go.

It’s not for everyone, it’s content on a TV channel that’s all. I like it, but there’s plenty of content that I wouldn’t watch across the networks.
