Just been reading about the BBC licence fee increasing to ยฃ3 and in this article it put everything the BBC does - I was astonished actually at how much of the BBC I consume on a weekly basis

BBC 1 ๐Ÿ‘
BBC2 ๐Ÿ‘
BBC4 ๐Ÿ‘
BBC Radio 2 ๐Ÿ‘
BBC Radio 4 ๐Ÿ‘
BBC Five Live ๐Ÿ‘
BBC 6 Music ๐Ÿ‘
BBC Local ๐Ÿ‘
BBC Website ๐Ÿ‘
BBC iPlayer ๐Ÿ‘
BBC Sounds ๐Ÿ‘

Worth ยฃ13 a month? Well my Missus pays ยฃ15 a month for Netflix and Amazon and whenever I go to watch a film on there, you always have to pay ๐Ÿ˜ก

When you break it down like that it looks good value
However with all other subscription services you have a choice to subscribe or not.

I pay for a license at home and also at the hotel. At the hotel I also have to pay prs and ppl and now another bloody new license mplc so four licenses neede to have a tv in hotel bedrooms I think not. Iโ€™m paid up until September then Iโ€™m taking all tv s out of the bedrooms and going to put in docking stations. No way am I paying over ยฃ2000 a year to have TVs in bedrooms. Diabolical

I'd be happy to pay it, but it's the fact that I'm forced to pay it that narks me.
If it were a subscription service, it would force them to economise on their over-staffing and inflated wages.

I put more than my fair share into this economy and I wonโ€™t be ripped off. For example. I live in my house and pay my council tax. I have a hotel and donโ€™t live there yet I have to pay council tax. Why the hell should I have to pay two lots of council tax I can only live in one place at once
I also pay buisness rates at 12,000 a year
Donโ€™t mind paying my fair share but donโ€™t like being ripped off

Worth every penny. Without it we're stuck in a world of channel 4 and Sky 1 tv drowning in adverts and life just wouldn't be the same.

you only have to look at their buildings to know itโ€™s a bloated and overfunded organisation, but itโ€™s global reach and status gives the UK a boost. Iโ€™m happy with the tv licence arrangement but think over 75s should have theirs free.

As long as they stick to their black and white set it is free

Old, outdated and terrible television shows like Mrs Browns Boys, Miranda, Strictly etc.
Match of the Day probably the only bbc show I watch.

I think streaming services are the future, where you can watch actual GOOD shows like Game Of Thrones, The Sopranos, Westworld, television drama thatโ€™s actually engaging and gripping

This has been going on for years. I used to own a cafe/ restaurant and lived in the flat above. I had to pay council tax for the flat, business rates for the cafe, 2 lots of water rates etc. To add insult to injury I had to pay 2 lots of drainage for water off the roof, even though I only had one roof.!!!

To be honest, I can't remember the last time I watched commercial TV or listened to commercial radio bar big sporting events.

I smashed my TV over anti Brexit propaganda. No intention of giving them another penny. They can go to hell with Jimmy Saville and all the rest of their nonces

Said it before, whilst the Beeb is not perfect & represents the start of TV so if it's funding (which is peanuts compared to others gives advert free Quality programs) is made optional or the threats for non payment are removed we will lose it. To sneak legislation in on the grounds of is it a jailable offence is ridiculous, apparently only 5 people were actually sent down (probably not for long) for non payment of fines. Just leave it alone.

I agree that for approximately ยฃ3 per weekth

[/QUOTE whilst I think for approximately ยฃ3 per week the BBC is a bargain. I donโ€™t think not paying a licence should be a criminal offence. Nor should it be compulsory .Some people never watch but still have to pay, that is like someone who doesnโ€™t own a car paying road tax to walk on the pavement. With todayโ€™s technology there must be another way to pay if you use their services and not if you donโ€™t.

I see that all the BBC National stations have increased their audience figures according to the news today whilst commercial have lost audience - who wants to listen to right wing bigots on LBC and Talk Radio or the same 12 songs an hour on commercial radio when the BBC can offer something so different. More than happy to pay it. The idea we could all live off Netflix and Heart Radio with Amanda Holden would lead me to emigrate!
