Thought he did well last night - his kicking lets him down but I felt very assured watching him. Will he get a league game this season?
I noticed that Alfie .. loved the belly flop on the ball and ate up about 30 seconds of added time farting around!Didn't put a foot wrong last night and a master of shithousery towards the end, good to know we have a more than able backup.
Bit OTT that, "hope not." I'm glad we have an able and confident second keeper. As we've commented before, Critchley doesn't have a first XI. He has a squad where every player should be able to fill the positions on the pitch.Hope not, he's a competent back up ( as Maxwell should have been) . Hopefully we can progress in the cup to give him pitch time.
Probably not. Grimshaw has been fine recently.Just coming back to this thread - would anyone start any game over Xmas with O’Donnell in goal?
No, but I would keep him in for the cups. He is a decent keeperJust coming back to this thread - would anyone start any game over Xmas with O’Donnell in goal?
Tell you what…we are winning 1 0 and they are on the attack with maybe a minute to go…I would be more than happy if our keeper did exactly that….the rules rightly or wrongly allow it.Decent keeper IMO but I hate the falling on the floor with the ball.
This tactic has crept into the game over the years and besides being blatant time wasting it is pathetic really, especially when the keeper catches the ball when stood up, waits for the other players to move away and then belly flops on the ball.
Every single keeper does it (except when they are losing) but it seems an accepted tactic by the officials because they don’t even caution them.
He was probably blowing out of his arse after sprinting 2 lengths of the pitch to get up and then back after the first corner.Just going back to this debate, I did like the way he got the ball out quicker than Grimmy and his positional sense was decent.
However, why did he come up for the first corner but stayed back for the following free kick?
He came out for the ball on their dead balls and did well. It’s a huge part of a modern keeper. His height helps. Unfortunately this part of Grimshaws game is a major problem and as his propensity to step backwards over the line. Both need to work on their distribution. I would like to look more at the relationship with the defenders as Grimshaw is not a great communicator or leader but the defenders use him well as an extra man when holding at the back.Thought he did well last night - his kicking lets him down but I felt very assured watching him.
