All Saturdays games postponed
Definitely, there’ll be nothing before the funeral and I wonder how long after, because there’ll be 7 more days of official mourning.Probably Wednesday and next Saturday too
Police resources will be very stretched as the week goes on especially in London with all the world Heads of States and dignitaries rocking up for the state funeral.Definitely, there’ll be nothing before the funeral and I wonder how long after, because there’ll be 7 more days of official mourning.
They should play this in the international break. Tough if clubs lose players, that's what a squad is for. And if the next 2 are off then they should overlap with the start of the WC to clear them if necessary.RIP HMQ & no disrespect intended; but our 5yr old grandson will be heartbroken at this news. Sadly we'll have to request a refund of over £100 as we can't make a midweek game from Cheshire due to school & his parents work
Very valid point.Police resources will be very stretched as the week goes on especially in London with all the world Heads of States and dignitaries rocking up for the state funeral.
FFS it my birthday as well. Just gona have to go on piss, at least pubs still open
He'll have to get smashed on his own at home thenNot for long.
So have a minutes applause then like they do normally now.Think one of the reasons is that there's no way some fans will respect a minute's silence. Does anyone believe that Liverpool fans will respect it? Last thing the Prem wants is that to happen in front of the world right now. EFL just do whatever the Prem does.
rugby league is on this weekend at all levels. Tonight's Sheffield match was called off last night. Is this all sporting fixtures or professional ones like football, cricket rugby etc?
Next Saturday (17th) is the last 64 of the Waterloo handicap, then plays down to a final 8 from Mon to Wed.
Best wishes for your birthdayFFS it my birthday as well. Just gona have to go on piss, at least pubs still open
MatesDefinitely, there’ll be nothing before the funeral and I wonder how long after, because there’ll be 7 more days of official mourning.
I agree, I wanted the games to be on and think stadiums full of people singing god save the queen would have been a far better tribute. So have a minutes applause then like they do normally now.
Cancelling sport for respecting a minutes silence would be the most feeble thing ever and utter bobbins.
It was said by Gary that he heard the EFL wanted games off but the PL were undecided. That was when the meetings were going on.Just received an email from the club confirming that 9th and 10th September games called off. Later fixtures to be confirmed. Good quick communication by the club.
Personally I'd have preferred games to be on with fans paying their respects pre match, but calling the games off is understandable (guessing EFL followed the PL decision?).
Better still throw them out of the league! Not a cat in hell's chance that Millwall is going ahead because of police numbers needed elsewhere. Switch the game to here? If fixtures are going ahead.
Its enforced respect. I can't quite get my head round how going to watch us tomorrow is disrespectful. Have the minutes silence and crack on with the match. If people aren't up to going because they're too upset, they don't need to attend.Although not a royalist, I had a lot of admiration for The Queen. However, I do think that the level of mourning has gone a bit far. After all, we are expected to work as normal during this period and everybody deserves to enjoy their valuable downtime after a hard day / week's work.
Apologies, wrote my post before saw your but agreeSurely a minute s silence and then applause while the national anthem is then played would have been a better idea at every game during the pouring period.
It would be respectful and it would allow people to show their appreciation for a good lady the Queen.
They'll blame him and the Tories anyway, after all, some people on here probably think it's their fault the Titanic sankFA and EFL decision to cancel. ( just in case someone was blaming Boris )
Totally the right decision to suspend everything this weekend to allow people to grieve but should be Business As Usual thereafter
I had to check who was in power when it sunk! It seems it was the Liberals. What was interesting was that a fortnight previously, both boat race crews sank and it had to be re-run the next day. Ominous? They'll blame him and the Tories anyway, after all, some people on here probably think it's their fault the Titanic sank
