Official approach for Duff

Always going to be someone we'd never heard of

Thats now the Blackpool way....

& not saying thats a bad thing!!

Won League 2 with Cheltenham in 2020/2021 and kept them up comfortably last season. I’d be very happy with this, has the potential to be a brilliant appointment.

Ryan Lowe had a very similar history to Duff - took Plymouth out of League 2, then secured a comfortable finish in League 1 the following season. The scum took a chance on him and he’s not doing too badly, could be the same for us.

It could be his agent being a dick mind, Barnsley were supposed to have made a move for him two weeks ago.

My second choice behind Barton, would be well happy if we got him.
5 at the back, front two pressing ( rules Madine out) ball playing number 10 and two holding midfielders.
Plays the right way.

He played for Burnleh for bloody ages, pretty sure he was there under Ternant and finished with Dyche.

Don’t know enough about him or how he plays but it doesn’t get my juices flowing.
5 at the back, 2 up top and overlapping wing backs. To win the L2 title with Cheltenham was impressive, to take them to mid table League 1 with the lowest budget even more so. I listened to his interviews when they won promotion and thought he came across very well. He played for Burnley for years, so should know plenty about Lancashire also.

I don't like the fact that this has leaked out unless everything has been agreed? Otherwise we might get into the same situation as last time with Nathan Jones and that git Karl Robinson.

I like the sound of overlapping wing backs with Gabriel and maybe garbs, but not husband but I guess he’d be left sided of the 3. I vaguely remember him at Burnley but nothing about him from managing.

40% win rate at Cheltenham which isn’t bad, but as I said it doesn’t excite me but again that’s because I don’t know much about him.

Marv Thorniley Keogh as a back 3

He has some unconventional training rituals. Like forfeits where players get slapped with a wet goalie glove. Getting them to do rolly poleys from penalty box to penalty box. 'Thats really horrible'. Making them wear shin pads etc. Sounds a bit crazy gang. They'll notice a difference from Critchley!

Duff's record at Cheltenham:

18/19 - 16th League 2
19/20 - 4th League 2
20/21 - 1st League 2
21/22 - 15th League 1 - their highest ever league position.

That's impressive. Continual improvement year on year, and took Cheltenham into uncharted territory, competing with a lot of big clubs in that league. They've beaten Ipswich, Charlton, Sunderland and Portsmouth this season.

Promising.

Played in all 8 top divisions and stepped up from each. Only player to be promoted to the Prem 3 times with 1 club
40 % win ratio as manager at an unfancied club
And the Dingles will be gutted
