Oh my God, it's doing my head in.

I can't understand what's happening.
After years of mainly cheap signings, it's something we've got used to.
Now, all of a sudden we are signing good players on good contracts.
Will it last, or is it just a dream in my old age? Will my heart stand up to it?
Joking aside, it's just fantastic for us who've suffered under the old regime.
(Don't want to spoil it by naming them.) 😂

Far too well organised for my liking, and l certainly don’t get this bringing in new players before the end of July and paying them!

Devil's advo.

All our signings so far have been free except Casey, I think.

Under the Oystons, we signed...

Charlie Adam, DJ, Kevin Phillips, Barry Ferguson, Wes Hoolahan, Andy Morrison, Tony Ellis, Matt Phillips, and many many more.

Those times have gone. 🤣

Free transfer just means out of contract, whether the clubs choice or the players, appreciate their can be a fee for u23.

…oh, and most those above were paid for by VB.

Do these new owners not realise that come August these players will be desperate and will come for practically nothing??
And we are paying players before the season starts, which naive management team thought that would be a good idea.
Maybe it is a joke to boost season sales and we should offer a 2 season discounted ticket to ensnare the gullible

The better ones with Belokons money!

It's because it's being run as a professional football club that believes in progress and being involved in the community by a proper owner that loves his club. The privous owners it was more about status and a tool to make friends( hanger oners) it must be so boring for them now, no friends , no money... Such a shame🤣😂

Yes Davepick and what makes it even better there is more to come, its certainly a dream coming true for us all .UTMP

Early days yet. I think some of last year's signings have turned out to sit comfortably amongst those names :)

The city clubs are drawing British youngsters into their academies and then releasing them
and instead bringing in expensive foriegn imports. Blackpool is taking advantage of this situation.

Indeed. Makes you wonder if it's worth it for clubs like Blackpool to spend money on academies. The best kids are fought over by the big clubs, but only a tiny fraction make it. Thousands of kids vying for a small number of first team places with players from all over the world. We can pick them up at 18-20 for nowt. The Casey signing is indicative. Sell on clause, so Leeds share any profit. Others we get Scot free, when they are released. Connolly, Bowler.

Exactly. It something we've discussed before on the old site. The value in an Acad is community based and grants I think, as opposed to bringing players on.

What I said back then was we needed a proper network (of one) bloke who knew the PL acad's inside out, knew the coaches and players, formed relationships and sought to get the best released ahead of the pack.

A player released may not be the worst in the squad, possibly let go because of numbers in his position.

The Acad's are here to stay even if @Insider has to fund it himself.

Yes the value for us if having an academy will be mainly the community involvement I suspect. But if Critch were to stay we could develop a rep as a good alternative to the big clubs. Smaller, more personal, excellent coaching, more opportunity.

I think it's odd. We are in a strange position wrt bringing kids on. Realistically they have a much smaller chance of breaking through with us than say a kid at Grimsby Town. OK, you'd assume and hope the coaching is better here, but chances of matchday action and first team training are higher with a GT.

What's best for a kid when faced with the choice?

Some of these comments on this thread do make me laugh and I can only think they are a wind up. To be defending the previous regime against the current one is so incomprehensible it really makes me wonder whether these posters are...
a) nobbers in disguise
b) previous regime family members in disguise
c) living in a parallel universe where all that is bad seems good and all that is good seems bad (for this one please seek counselling)
To me it's very simple, we have gone from having one of the worst owners in football to having one of the very best. And I'm not sure that anybody that can't work this out can seriously call themselves a Blackpool supporter...

The best coaching you can get, chiefly, I think, in an environment where you feel safe and valued and comfortable.

The thread was started because we are a changed club.
Regardless of whether money is spent on players, it's just a different outlook and strategy than under the previous owners.
Some of you appear to think that there have been no improvements. 🙄
I don't know about you lot but I'm really looking forward to the upcoming season.
Yes Dave. Plenty of improvements on players & the recruitment process. Don’t let posters with negative views try to say otherwise.
