Watched many games in there. Mainly cos my Grandad liked being on the halfway line. Sometimes I blagged him to go in the South Paddock which I prefered.I took this photo from the Scratching Shed when you were allowed one last look before demolition.View attachment 417
I was in the Scratchers that day too. Seem to remember a blantant foul on the edge of the area at the South Stand end which the ref bizarrely missed....oh for VAR..!!That was where I was stood for the Hartlepool play off game in 2001...it was absolutely rocking in there and I’ll always remember that day. That was one of the few times I ever went onto the pitch...nobody else did, so I shook hands with some of the players!
Crazy atmosphere for that one with us all hemmed in!! Ben Warriss next to Stan, part of the Jewel & Warriss comedy duoMorecambe and Wise, Tommy Cooper, Jimmy Jewell!!
I'd have that team in the blink of an eye, because right in the middle is Sir Stan
Agree. Many of these pics have brought back some good memoriesI have to say this has been a brilliant thread and thanks for the great pics!
Brilliant that clappersThat borough park photo really took me back. Used to go with my dear departed dad to the Greyhounds of an evening. Had some laughs trying to pick which long odds trap 6 dog on its last legs had been given a shot of amphetamine before the race....there was one every night!
Very true rocks, shame though!Bayern, i agree but the problem is the copyright issues. I've tried to get answers before on copyright of some photos and never got a straight answer.

Wonderful thread. Keep posting folks!!
I didn't realise the old greyhound track had a footy pitch in the middle.
Request from me: does anyone have any more of the old railway that ran to central station? I've looked on google but there isn't any of Yeadon Way with tracks on it.
Disgraceful! Demolishing such an iconic, magnificent Art Deco gem!I had to post this. Not football but there are two types of person: Those that remember Derby Baths and those that don't! I never got to the top board but still get angry that we demolished this beautiful building.View attachment 438
Found this one - you can just about see the ground in the distance. View attachment 436

Brilliant photo Morty, love these old ones. Anyone know roughly where the main stand would be now?I've found some more -Firstly the only photo that I've seen of a Blackpool match being played at Raikes HallView attachment 433
Matrix played a few games there I think.A few local footy teams played here after the rugby finished.
From memory I remember playing there against Mammas in a Sunday Alliance game, Boars Head in the Saturday Combination (who I played for) used it for a season and possibly Wren Rovers for a season?
We were at the far end altenated between standing and sitting
Super photo. When I was a kid I got talking to an old guy at a match and I asked him how long he'd supported Blackpool he replied that he'd been coming long enough to remember when the ground was painted in blue and white. Great to see a pic of us playing at home in this kit. Here's one from 1933 at home to Preston, we're in the striped shirts and white shorts, there were 28,771 there that day and Jimmy Hampson scored our goal (was this picture his goal?).
