Oliver Skipp has just lashed in an absolute screamer in the London derby for Spurs. Seem to remember arguing with someone on here who suggested, completely unironically, that getting him on loan would be a realistic transfer in the January window 🤣

Did well rescinding that red for Ziyech
that whole process was done brilliantly. Ziyech wasn't gonna get a card of any colour and VAR can't say it's only a yellow card. So VAR tells the ref to issue a red and then go to the monitor and have a look and then downgrade it to a yellow. Which was the correct decision. And yep, great Skipp goal.

Yep. Hate VAR overall though. Would rather have bad decisions and talking points (eg '66 World Cup goal) personally but understand I'm in minority.

Would VAR work better if there was literally a ten second review maximum?
Then if it wasn’t clear move on with the original decision?

I don't think you are in a minority. The principle is right, but the way its administered is woeful. Too many officials trying to decide if someone's nose is getting them offside and drawing the lines in the wrong place anyway.

Clear and obvious is ignored completely

trouble with VAR is you now have another ref sticking his nose in, ref on the pitch is more than capable of getting things wrong without outside assistance. BTW not against refs no game without them just let the guy on the pitch get on with it.

If the fans just accepted it's only a game, there'd be no need for VAR, but it's not only a game, is it? It's a pseudo religion. Accept I'm fully caught up in the cult.

I don't think they give a stuff about the fans, I think it's the ivory tower people at FIFA along probably with betting/moneyball. The impact to the drama of football is, for me, too high a price to pay. At least the implementation could be sooooo much better than it really is in order to protect the spirit of football, but some think getting every decision 100% right is more important than the spectacle that is sport!

Most leagues and cups were won by the team who deserved it before VAR came along, and the odd ones that weren't... it's entertainment, not life or death! (Except for the blatent foul on Baptiste vs West Ham in the playoff final, that was a travesty which should have been overturned.😉)

Most leagues and Cups are handed over by the home ref in my experience

I'm glad by (in your teeny tiny mind) 'getting one over' someone on a faceless message board you got your kicks for the day *laughy smiley*

I'm sure everyone is very impressed (that's why the thread is all about VAR and not your original statement) ..bit seriously well done *lots of laughing smileys*

As I said i'm glad it got you all excited......lad 🤣

And I've no idea what 'deeping it' is, I suspect for most people it would involve a young lady, but we've established you get your kicks on a faceless message board

You should probably try the young lady thing actually, Still, each to their own I guess
