Only 6 of 92 conceded less....

So much negativity around just trying to be a bit positive, so i'll just leave this here...
Only 6 of the 92 league clubs have conceded fewer goals than us.... Lets face it, its not often we can boast such a statistic.... One of those teams are running away with the Premier League... one of those teams are running away with the Championship... and 2 of those teams are 2nd and 3rd in the Championship....
Not all bad is it?!

Would suggest we are a well coached, well drilled team with a strong team spirit.
Main facets when you get results like that.

When you think of Athletico Madrid, Arsenal of Graham, Barresi Italy team it’s all the above.

Throw in being a top 6 form team for a few months now, you’d have thought the likes of 62, Memphis and Mac might just be a little more positive by now.

Yep 28 goals conceded in 31 games is a very good defensive record, especially when you consider that we conceded 10 in the first 5 games

18 goals conceded in the last 26 league matches is excellent by anyone's standards. Also need to factor in the number of forced changes due to injury, and it's even more impressive.

Now let's start scoring a few more😁

I think we have one of the best squads in the division and so we should with the investment the owner has put in...however we are 12th and seasons are played over 46 games and not based on the sample shown in a current form table
We were, however, 6th on ppg (not sure what that draw did to us) which is actually a more accurate measure given the unequal number of games played...

Why have we the one of the best squads in the division?
No spare strikers, ball playing decent passing midfielders and too many like for like players.
We brought in the most in terms of recruitment but is that the best in the league not sure. 🤔

7 out of our 10 game unbeaten run had Gabriel in it?
Not saying Gabriel isn’t a good player Kurt. He’s definitely got something about him and is the sort of attacking full back you see a lot of these days. But there’s also no denying that Turton and Husband are generally some of our better defenders.

It’s a problem that the coach needs to solve. We’ve sacrificed attacking threat for being solid defensively, but not conceding many goals doesn’t translate to winning lots of games. And we need wins now and we’re getting too many draws because we can’t kill a game off.

No I'm not arguing that, your point was the reason for our solid defence was based around Turton and Husband. And to be honest it's a myth that it's the case.

We're better as a team with Gabriel in it than Turton and that's factually true according to statistics.

It's not a myth at all. You only needed to watch Saturday's game to recognise the defensive stability that Turton provides. It wasn't a one off. You don't like Turton as a player - as you've made very clear - so you won't see it, but plenty of others can.

Regarding being a better team, it could easily be argued that we're currently weaker because we don't have Madine playing and Hamilton has been missing/is just coming back. Most people can also see that they give us more attacking threat, so we're bound to also be weaker without them.

It works both ways, we have conceded the second least number of goals in the division, but scored the third least.. the defence is clearly really well coached as it does well no matter who is fit, but the emphasis on defence leaves us lacking impetus going forward.

Put those two stats together with the “no goals from 6 midfield players“ stat that td53 unearthed a couple of weeks ago ( slight improvement since) and it says a lot about where our priorities lie.

..... and only about 20 have scored less with a lot of them in the relegation zones.
Quite often teams that don't concede many, don't score many either.
3 points to win 5-4, 1 point to draw 0-0

But I'm talking statistical truth. And factual truth, we are a better team with Gabriel in. More wins. More points. More shots.
