I know they named a lounge after him but do we not think this legend deserves a statue at some point?

Fair enough mate. I don’t think we need any but we’re a proud club. I don’t think anyone would turn their noses up if we had enough legends to have one at each corner. I get what you mean though, it’s not the most important thing but fun to discuss on an internet forum. It's a no from me.
How many statues do we need and how many are too many?
You have players like Glynn James full international Captain and one club man. Alan Ball a World Cup Winner then there’s Tony Green Scottish International. Bret was a good player but get real.
You could argue he is the only Blackpool manager to have ever truly united all fans.Definitely not. Bret was a good player for us but he was also a bit of a journeyman and to me that doesn’t warrant a statue.
As for the comment about a stand being named after Billy Ayre, why?
What is it with all this King nonsense. King Billy, King Kenny etc. There was only one King of Bloomfield Road and he played for us for 10 years and never even granted a testimonial.I'd rather they name the east stand after King Billy and have a statue of him outside it tbh.

Haha that is a class pic! Brings back great memories especially seeing that south paddock in the background!
Exactly! It’s ace that we’ve got all these legends from an England and major trophy history and we’ve got a couple of statues of that time.If they had a fans zone outside the ground you can line walls or barriers with printed images of some of our greatest players and those great moments.
I’d also limit it to more recent years (last 20 at best) as for most fans coming through and even my age - we don’t remember anything nor have seen those great names of the 80s or earlier.
Encourage the younger fans that may remember Wes, Charlie and even Simmo or at least heard their dad talk of them? They’re the ones that’ll secure our next generation of fans
You could argue he is the only Blackpool manager to have ever truly united all fans.
If we we're to get one it better be a good sculptor or it will look like Albert Steptoe.....
Maximum 4How many statues us too many
I don't want the equivalent of the terracotta army outside Bloomfield Road
Joe Smith? Manager for 20+ years and won major silverware while we challenged for the First Division title. You could argue he is the only Blackpool manager to have ever truly united all fans.
The Hall Of Fame caters for our legends & Super Bret (who we all love) is certainly well deserving of his place in that (in addition to his named lounge).
The next step up, is having a stand named after a player & we only have currently have one.
Having a statue erected outside Bloomfield Road is reserved for the rare, elite players who have an exceptional place in our history.
Statues and other accolades are meant to represent legends not every Tom, Dick, Harry - or Billy, it seems ...Definitely not. Bret was a good player for us but he was also a bit of a journeyman and to me that doesn’t warrant a statue.

A good manager yes, who was with us for just under 4 years and also managed 4 other clubs.
Statues and other accolades are meant to represent legends not every Tom, Dick or Harry.
And yet still spoken of more highly than any other manager in our history. All 3,000 to 5,000 of us.
He isn't now some want him to have a statue and some don't!!You could argue he is the only Blackpool manager to have ever truly united all fans.
And the new East Stand should be the Alan Ball East stand.Apparently we have three named stands, though two of the names are rarely used. From Wikipedia:
"The three permanent stands are named the Stan Mortensen North Stand (denoted by the acronym "B.F.C." spelled out in white seats, the Jimmy Armfield South Stand (with "ARMFIELD" spelled out in white seats) and the Sir Stanley Matthews West Stand (with one of the club's nicknames, "SEASIDERS", spelled out in white seats)."

I also learned from Wikipedia that Bloomfied Road, Blackpool, is "Not to be confused with Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel."
Take care, Folks
4. One at each corner To match each Stand. All in the same style as the Armfield statue. The current Morty statue could be moved indoors. It's a no from me.

Lovely, lovely bloke. And yet still spoken of more highly than any other manager in our history.
