OT Cricket T20 World Cup

Quinton De Kock explains his reasons for not taking the knee.

In hindsight he regrets not taking the knee but didn't like being told to by CSA on the way to the ground. He was brought up in a mixed race family and black lives have mattered to him since he was born.

Quinton explains himself .... good shout.

Big game coming up Saturday against the Aussies.
Two very easy games/wins so far for England but this is the first real test for us. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Big plus for us is the emergence or re-emergence of fast bowler Tymal Mills, him and Wood give us a genuine pace threat, we know we have the batsmen to rack up a big total, but with the spinners we have along with Mills, Wood and Woakes we have a real chance of winning this thing, I fancy us to take care of the Aussies no problem.

Whilst Captain Morgan is worth his place for his captaincy I do worry about his complete lack of form with the bat. He looked completely lost and void of any confidence throughout the IPL.

It`s true that Morgan has been well out of form with the bat of late but as you say he is an exceptional captain and we`ve jut got to hope that his poor form is temporary and his class remains and surfaces in the next few games when we need it most.

As for the upcoming game with the Aussies we are capable of beating them if we play up to our potential but it certainly won`t be easy and never is against them.

I have been very impressed with Mills, his variations and his excellent record when bowling at the death. He may well now be ahead of Wood in the pecking order.

Morgan has been in the set up long enough to deserve a chance to get some form back. Plus he's a left hander in a batting line up that's got plenty of right handers. Always useful against the ball that turns the other way.
Spot on re his captaincy 50's. In this format some smart captaincy in terms of field positions or bowling changes can be as good as a batter getting 15 quick runs in the last 2 overs (which is often what players like Morgan have to deal with anyway.)

With Mills, you get the advantage of a genuine T20 specialist, so his variations can really come into it. Wood is excellent though and given that we're missing Jofra - who is total box office in this format - we're lucky to still have 2 quick options to call on.

We definitely have a chance in this competition, but T20 is all about fine margins. One good or bad over can be the difference between winning and losing a game. Leaves things very open.

Aussies currently ripping the Sri Lankans a new ring piece.

Chasing 152 their currently 108/2 off just 12 overs.

Everyone’s favourite pet hate Warner is currently 52 not out.

Watching WI v Bangladesh. As I alluded to in the OP the pitch at Sharjah is a complete joke. It's like batting on treacle. WI are literally struggling to get it away for singles never mind clearing the square. Gone from a 200 pitch to a 120-130 pitch which isn't providing much entertainment.

119/6 WI are really struggling now. 😮

The fielding is truly abysmal. WI deserved the win I think albeit there was little quality other than Holder and Pooran on show.

That was a pretty decent knock by the Afghans 147/6 after being 37/4 at 5 overs.

Probably won’t be enough mind but great to watch for their fans.

It’s not often (if at all) you see an Indianan cricket team in the T20 finals having Played 2 Lost 2 stats.

Well NZ are about to inflict there second defeat on them and with it a big possibility of them not progressing into the semi final stages.

The crowd are about as silent as the Nobber fans were last week. 😮

Took 2/1 on NZ this morning. India might be the "money" nation in the cricketing world but barely any of their players were in form in the IPL and they have zero power hitters up front.

India have been absolutely demolished.

Our weak link Malan out now for just 6 England 34/2 after 5 overs.

Looks like Joss Butler might have to do the business again. 😬

In trouble here. Bairstow gone now. Absolutely shit pitch not worthy of a World Cup at Sharjah. Simply doesn't bounce and is dead as a Dodo.

We haven't been tested yet, let's see how we respond, our batting is ridiculously strong. We need to post 150 to be in with a great shout.

35 for 3
Bairstow unusually out first ball to spin.

I think in the long run that this is good experience for England. They've not had a difficult game yet, so good experience for later in the tournament. Plus lower order batsmen getting a go
