OT - Lockdown 2 drinks of choice

During the last lockdown, I decided to try lots of new beers. Be it craft, hybrid, ale and even lager. Tried to stay with local breweries such as 1887 brewhouse, farmyard ales, and Lsncaster brewery but sampled a few from all over Europe.
You guys doing similar or sticking to same old, same old?

Same old for me GJJW Aldi finest Hobgoblin Gold 4.5% at £1.19 a bottle; bought the last 5 on the shelf. I’ll smash them tonight and see what I fancy for tomorrow and maybe a few for the match on Sunday.

Supporting a local business as best I can. Selling world beers. Currently quaffing 8.5% La Chouffe

I'm going sober for it. Drank loads up until last week so I'm having a few weeks off. Got a fridge full of beer and wine too.

Must stay strong

Merlot is Mrs Dave's wine of choice
I have never drunk wine, I have never liked it; so it's always beer for me
Tonight I have Becks, Hobgoblin Gold, and Corona lined up for my relaxing Friday night tipple
IIRC it was this sort of thread which introduced me to Hobgoblin Gold - so thanks!

Love it. Enjoy pal.

I'd like to try the latter!
It's lager pal, not into ales. I started brewing at the beginning of the first lockdown and I'm on my 8th brew now and it gets better each time, I've found that the longer you leave it the better it is. I spent quite a few bob on the equipment but it's definitely been worth it in the long run. Did loads of research and can now produce 40 pint barrels of crystal clear decent tasting lager at about 5% (I think). I now buy my brews from Wilko which are very cheap and are no different from the more expensive ones.

Sounds awesome pal. During lockdown, I have tried new things including various lagers and some I've really enjoyed. Keep brewing pal.

I keep a good selection of English Beers in, 6 in all, two different ciders. The wine I buy direct from Portugal just topped my cellar up with 48 bottles. Brandy also comes from Portugal. Home made rhubarb gin although the gin in British. Just had one Yorkshire IPA tonight.

Wine deals in Times and Telegraph at weekend.
Amazing deals on opening offers.
Averys based in Bristol offered 6 bottles of quality reds,2 Darting wine glasses and free delivery for £53.
Enjoy responsibly 🤪

48 bottles!?! Wow, that is mental. Seeing as you've only supped one bottle of IPA tonight, what are you gonna do with them all?

Not done any homebrew for years, I wonder if the concentrate kits have improved, the only decent stuff I managed to make involved mashing, sparging & simmering at about 95 deg C for some considerable time, straining then force cooling with a coil with cold water passing through it just to get it to the point to pitch the sedimentary pre cultured yeast in, phew it was painful. Apart from the fact after a couple of litre bottles people had problems finding the door it actually tasted good though, a very hoppy lager from memory. I may have another go using the easy method & see what it tastes like these days. Or just buy some Morland Old Golden Hen, or Moretti Lager which I've recently found to be quite palatable.

I've never been one for drinking at home, I don't know why but not drinking is one positive to take from this ridiculous lockdown.

Diet Dr Pepper so far tonight but as we are past midnight I am considering cracking open a bottle of Orange Lucozade - no sugar mind.

That sounds very complicated. What I do is very simple and I quite like the results but maybe it's shite compared with professional brews. Anyhow, it does for me 🤞

I struggled with the beer when living in Oz.

The average pub just sold the usual Oz crap!!
Things are a bit different now and craft beer is the go-to now. Many small boutique breweries opening up to compete with the vineyards.
One of my personal faves is Burleigh Big Head which is a 4.5% brew with ZERO carbs!
