Altrincham two years in a row was horrendous.Any stick out for you? Was it Hnedsford that we lost to under Megson .. that all turned a bit nasty from memory!
YeovilWhich was the one where BSA's balloons didn't take off and they popped them all and in front of the West was just a tangerine rubber mess on the pitch
Hednesford Town was bad. Only just snuck past Colwyn Bay and Blyth Spartans too in the 90s.Any stick out for you? Was it Hnedsford that we lost to under Megson .. that all turned a bit nasty from memory!
Mental on the terraces tooHednesford Town was bad. Only just snuck past Colwyn Bay and Blyth Spartans too in the 90s.
That 4-3 with Spartans was a mental game. 3-1 down if I remember correctly

Wasn't that A Tense Grin 's fetish party?just a tangerine rubber mess

It certainly was Yeovil Joe, It was pissing down and I was standing in the South Paddock, soaked to the skin and with a pie that was waterlogged.Yeovil
I think that was in the 6th round and Alan Brown was playing for Luton. We drew at home then lost at Luton to a Billie Bingham goal if my memory serves me right. Remember being gutted at the time as a young lad.The recent defeat to Hartlepool was pretty bad, not just because we lost, but because we played our first team and ended up with injuries to key players
Was it Husband and Anderson who ended up with long term hammy injuries after the game?
1959 was way before my time, but I can recall a post by @FessParker about us losing 1-0 to Luton when all the other big teams had been knocked out. A big opportunity missed.
Weren't we Division 3 and them Division 4 that day?
Me and mates watched it live in The Shovels. Horrible result. It certainly was Yeovil Joe, It was pissing down and I was standing in the South Paddock, soaked to the skin and with a pie that was waterlogged.
YES it would have been . A large crowd gathereed around the managers office. MEGSON OUT MEGSON OUT. I had my son with me. Daddy why are the men shouting about. Going to go with Blyth Spartans . Budgie was in goal for them. early 2000s FA cup eh/Any stick out for you? Was it Hnedsford that we lost to under Megson .. that all turned a bit nasty from memory!
halifax fanzine was called where were you at the Shay.Yep we were in 3 and 4. But roll it back 18 months before that and we were fifth in Division 2 and they were in the Northern Premier League.
I think lots of people, me included, just thought what the eff are we playing at this dump for? A feeling that became more and more prevalent as we became used to the likes of the shale ends at Halifax and Rochdale and assorted non league nomarks.
I remember that game..Mon night on Sky..I think Ellis was in his first season with us..He didn't get the best reception at Deepdale hahaNobbers 1-0 Pool. Nov 94. Drove back up the M55 at 100mph+ straight into night shift. Hateful!
Yes I was there too but in fairness getting back to the Prem was the main aim that season. As it turned out resting players backfired as we lost at home to West Ham the following tuesday night.Maybe not the worst but very disappointing when we played Everton in the fA Cup under Olly.
Big, expectant away following at a northwest Premiership club and he goes and fields a weakened line up, and lo and behold we go 2-0 down before my arse has touched the seat, what a waste.
We lost toLeague 1 side Southampton in our PL season. We loaned Puncheon after that game.Yes I was there too but in fairness getting back to the Prem was the main aim that season. As it turned out resting players backfired as we lost at home to West Ham the following tuesday night.
Evidence of ‘Judas’ banners if my memory serves me well.I remember that game..Mon night on Sky..I think Ellis was in his first season with us..He didn't get the best reception at Deepdale haha
Mrs was expecting wizzling No2 at the time and a mate from work leant me his pager incase Mrs went into labour didn't have a mobile in them days!!Nobbers 1-0 Pool. Nov 94. Drove back up the M55 at 100mph+ straight into night shift. Hateful!
Frustrating few days for you, but at least you got a great result ultimately!Mrs was expecting wizzling No2 at the time and a mate from work leant me his pager incase Mrs went into labour didn't have a mobile in them days!!
Shite 1-0 defeat and wizzling No2 didn't turn up for days!!
Yes - mate - my youngest was BFC mascot that day - wouldn’t have scored if we’d played until midnightYeovil
Didn’t we beat Liverpool the week after that Southampton Cup game? Remember going all the way down only for Ollie to literally play a team of kids, we got absolutely dicked by an unbelievably good league 1 team….sure it was pretty much a premier league team 2 seasons laterWe lost toLeague 1 side Southampton in our PL season. We loaned Puncheon after that game.
Everton defeat was following season.
Yep , my first real FA Cup memory. I was having football practice after school at Norbreck when Jim Boucher came and told us we had lost at Luton.I think that was in the 6th round and Alan Brown was playing for Luton. We drew at home then lost at Luton to a Billie Bingham goal if my memory serves me right. Remember being gutted at the time as a young lad.
Gerry Ingram was playing for Bradford that day.The year Southampton won the cup '76, we played them away in an earlier round. Long journey down with my dad on a train run by South Shore CC. Included a pack lunch which I hid for the journey home. 3-1 defeat, we missed Blackpools late goal & my pack lunch had been nicked. Long, hungry journey back home.
Bradford City away early 70's. Think they were 4th division & we lost either 2-1 or 2-0. Loads of fighting. I was only about ten.
That Bradford game was my first real encounter with trouble . 4 of us walking back to the station when about a dozen Bradford 'fans' came running up to us and one shouted ' these are from Blackpool'. We scattered . I got away with just a glancing blow before getting sanctuary in a shop, One of the other lads took a couple of nasty hits. The year Southampton won the cup '76, we played them away in an earlier round. Was a big day for Bradford Fess. Vague memory of a band/group playing on the pitch pre match & Pool fans running on to the pitch & trying to wreck it? The trouble I mentioned was at the train station, think my dad was glad I was there & played the with young kid card. Do remember a large Pool following at the Dell. That Bradford game was my first real encounter with trouble . 4 of us walking back to the station when about a dozen Bradford 'fans' came running up to us and one shouted ' these are from Blackpool'. Oh and I was on that Southampton train as well . A long disappointment day , it wasn't me who nicked your butty by the way!
Was it Mike Conroy who scored the goal for them?Nobbers 1-0 Pool. Nov 94. Drove back up the M55 at 100mph+ straight into night shift. Hateful!
Can’t recall who the scorer was, probs erased it from memory! but Mike Conroy played for us mid 80’s.Was it Mike Conroy who scored the goal for them?
