Yep. He was a cracking player and helped us out massively in his time at Pool. Should have also mentioned that in my original post.I'll always have a lot of time for him after his loan stint for us. Pretty much kept us up single handedly and that double at Hull
Yep, thought the same so I just checkedWasn't it Leicester City who he scored against who ended up getting relegated?
Pigeons in flightWow. Just saw some recent footage of Paul Dickov on Sky Sports. Didn't realise that he'd gone full John Shuttleworth. No doubt rocking a pair of Cubans too.View attachment 13454
wasn't that one of the first games Ian Holloway managed for Leicester?Yep, thought the same so I just checked
He scored a 90th minute winner in February 08 in our 2-1 win.
We did the double over them, which helped keep us up and iirc helped sent them down
Edit, he scored a pretty good goal v the massive as well. Cleveleys Boy is quite right. I was at both games and still had to look it up. Memory going a bit.
Undoubtedly great player for us and many other teams.Wow. Just saw some recent footage of Paul Dickov on Sky Sports. Didn't realise that he'd gone full John Shuttleworth. No doubt rocking a pair of Cubans too.View attachment 13454
I remember the Sheff Wed game because the promotion from the club for it was the Lord Kitchener poster ("Your club needs you") with Grayson's face instead hahaYep, thought the same so I just checked

Maybe he's got an I hate Preston tattoo round his neckA roll neck and jacket under the studio lights. He must have been sweating like fool.
Good call that on LaveryProbably the best”penalty getter” I,ve ever seen in tangerine. he was a complete menace
And a grafter. Over the years Lavery could become similar, someone should give him any videos of him available.
Hated him at City , loved him at the Pool
wondered if anyone would remember.

Chris Sutton looks better than he used to. Micah Richards looks well too (admittedly he's not that old). But in general, yep, you're right.Other than Beckham - there are very few footballers who age well!
I have now fallen down a John Shuttleworth YouTube wormhole...Mary had a little lamb with peas and mash potatoes.
I worked with Graham Fellows as his soundman about 20 years ago at the charter theatre in Preston. I was introduced to him as Graham and we talked about how he wanted the show running. When he was in make up and dressed as John Shuttleworth he was totally in character. I called him Graham in the green room and he didn't answer. I called him John and he replied. He was great to work with.I have now fallen down a John Shuttleworth YouTube wormhole...

Wonderful stuff
A great thing about Dickov's time with us IMO, was after the rondos and squad drills in the match warmup, the squad would line up and take turns blazing footballs at the sub keeper, mostly hitting row Z.
Dickov always took a goalie aside and practiced putting it bottom corner, again, and again, and again and again. After a few weeks, the whole squad were doing that rather than trying to score worldies.
I think he was probably one who really made the most of the talent he had. And I mean that as a compliment.
And the classic............lncident on snake passI have now fallen down a John Shuttleworth YouTube wormhole...
