Personally I’d get next seasons manager in now

The uninspiring nonsense served up by McCarthy is just wasting time.

Get the new manager in and get him to assess the squad and to have a head start.

We aren’t going to stay up trying to play the way Mick is so let’s stop ** about and losing time on next seasons rebuild.

100%

Who's out there, and who'd want the job?

Maybe another Critchley style academy manager? Would he want the job at the moment though?

Unless they opt for NC then it won’t be possible

Thorough and detailed process required to ensure we get the best possible candidate

Won’t be a knee jerk . There is tons of pressure to get it right

Well don't expect " them" to get it right. Someone' I know who deals with Mansford said it f he was made of chocolate he'd eat himself. Therein lies the problem

Bang on...

The club needs to hold their hands up and just say they fucked up with a god awful lazy appointment

We are in total agreement on this subject !

Nobody good wants to come right now. We have to bide our time.

Put Dobbie in there hes doing OK with the youngsters no good getting someone in who has been sacked a dozen times already get some fresh blood in and let them have a go cant be any worse than what were watching.

Not so sure myself. People like these don't generally like to be associated with failure, and management is a stats driven game. Not everyone who could do a job would take this view but it could cost us the right person. I think we need to let this shambles of an on field season play itself out.

One thing we shouldn't do is make any panic decisions. If MM decides to quit then fair enough we need to move more quickly but I doubt that will happen before the next two home games. Take the emotion out of it and we're 6 points behind Cardiff and potentially Reading (does anyone know if/when their points deduction is due?). One difficulty we have is that any prospective Head Coach will not want a relegation on his CV but we need to be making plans for next season in the new future to decide on contracts and the retained list.

I did call for this about 4 games ago. It’s utterly depressing viewing.

I don't think a new manager would want to come in now. New managers want to come in and have time to instill their footballing philosophy. Now isn't the time to do that.

Plus, they wouldn't have any positivity around because we are awful at the moment and this season is likely to end in relegation. If that happens a new face coming in during the summer is a fresh start. If it's the same face that we got relegated with then it's not the same.

Ideally have someone lined up asap, they can watch these games in privacy and take a look at the players and come in during the summer.

You literally contradict yourself in your first paragraph.

Nope. You do, you literally contradict yourself.

You said he would want time. Coming in now would give him far more time than coming in during the summer. So it doesn’t actually make any sense.
Nope, they want time on the training ground in a pre season.

Not back to back games with players that will only be here until the end of the season.

He will get time on the training ground and know who he might want to keep or get rid of in a competitive environment. Took Critch months to get it right in League One.

I agree with Kurt but I wouldn't trust Sadler & Mansford to sit on a bog seat the right way regarding employing managers.

If they were going to employ someone now, you just know it will be Quitchley and what a fuck up that would be. I would be getting a manager lined up now so he takes over after the last game of the season; Wellen's is a really good shout as is Nathan Jones but he is unlikely to want to take over a league 1 side. My other worry is that they decide MM was actually decent and employ him for next season too, surely that will never happen? I just don't know with this pair.

One thing for sure is that Dobbie is NOT the answer, let him carry on with the development squad and gain more experience. I really worry about who they will employ because their record is absolutely abysmal. I feel exactly the same about the new players we are going to need in abundance, they need to get our confidence back. Like I keep saying, it's great to run the club well and invest like he is doing but that's 50% of it and the football side has been truly awful and there is nothing from the last 18 months that make me think they have learned from their mistakes.

I think any manager would want to get off to a good start, not a relegated start, and that's understandable. A clean, fresh start in the summer with a new face is better than throwing them in now for them to inevitably not do well in the next number of games and fans already be on their back.

A new start with new enthusiasm is what will be needed.

Why are you so sure it would be a “fuck up”if Critchley were reappointed ?

Nathan Jones left Luton, fans weren’t happy about the way he left, he got sacked by Stoke won the fans over again and was a success.

It’s probably already been mentioned, but what about that Will Still the young manager at Reims in the French League, he said he’d be up for managing in the Championship. Might be a bit pricey mind.
One of the best managers in Europe but cant see him going to a championship or League 1 outfit

He hasn't exactly done well since he left us, he left us in the lurch completely, everything had been done for him for that pre-season and he just went, I think he knew that there wasn't the money to fund the squad to compete in a second season in the Championship too and if he came back I think he would get dogs abuse from the supporters, that's the last thing we need. He's a coach, he would probably do well as first team coach with someone like Holloway as manager but as a manger, I don't think so. It doesn't mean it won't happen though, it's just my opinion on a message board. We will see what happens, but the next manager appointment can't be another disaster.

I watched him being interviewed on telly and he seems very ambitious. It’s a case of how ambitious our owners are and where do they see the club feature in the next couple of seasons. Only a miracle will turn our fortunes around now for us to remain in the championship, so it’s a case of rebuilding all over again next season

I’m not sure he’d get any abuse tbh I reckon the majority of fans would back his return poss

He's had an interesting "journey" as they say. English parents but raised in Belgium, was U-14 coach at PNE (Tattoo check may be required) when studying football coaching at Myerscough College. At 30 yrs old and no experience in English football he would be a massive gamble but if he is matched up with an experienced No.2 could be a left-field appointment.

He hasn’t got any coaching badges and they get fined 25 k every week
He's got the UEFA Pro licence but it is registered in Belgium and it is a strange quirk of French football that he could only coach for 60 days before the club has to pay a 22K fine per match. Not sure if he has British citizenship or if he would require a work permit but I quite like the idea that he has been a career coach and not an ex-player. Vincent Company has picked up some good players from his time in Belgium football where Still has spent the most of his career.

He’s in the French prem, at a club paying 22k every match he manages on top of his wage, being linked to the West Ham job, but you think he’s going to come to a club that’s just appointed Mick McCarthy (who applied and failed to get three other championship jobs) to replace Michael Appleton, who was mediocre in league one, following on from a manger paid so much he moved to be a cone fetcher at another team, who lost their cone fetcher to a club in our league, and that he’d then take having an experienced coach to babysit him? Seriously?

I think he would and a bad start and we will be right back to where we are now. We need a completely new manager, I Ould like Wellen's as he has the connection, is a decent young manager and plays the game the right way, I am no expert on who could fit the bill so I will leave it to others to speculate, but as I said, it is a massive appointment.
