No point in blaming players that have tried and failed in a formation that the manager refuses to change from. Its been obvious for months that this this group of players struggle in this formation, its upto the manager to recognise that and change it not be stubborn.
 
Clearly this system doesn't help the players but let's also be honest in that a fair few of these players are pretty pants too and our expectations are maybe too high.

Good God open your eyes! They have no faith in the coach who is driving their chances to succeed into the ground game after game…you will never get them running through walls under these circumstances. They probably all roll their eyes at him behind his back when he spouts his crap. We set up again for a nil nil.

Well at least he’s got 45 mins+ to turn things around. I’ll watch how we set up for the second half and hope that Posh capitulate.

My eyes are open. Watching fcuking CJ and Lavery and Carey and Beesley and Connolly and Pennington and Marv all season and seeing them stink the whole stadium out. I'm absolutely clear where these players are and that a bang average LG 1 team

You could have said that in the tail end of the McCarthy era. Then a decent manager came in and we looked like a force again in a much harder division. I don’t blame these players at all. It’s the idiot coaching them into oblivion.

Play them in a 442 or an 433 and then we’ll see.

and we look shaky defensively, peterborough are just cutting through our midfield at will, but when we go forward we are often getting bogged down by the posh midfield,

on a positive note we dont look as bad as last week, but its still not great.
 
No challenge for the header despite a lot of guys in and around Could Grimshaw have done better.
Last 3 games any optimism I had has gone. Peter borough seem to be able to get in quality players. They sell talented players but then get some more. We dont really find much talent. Ive seen numerous unfashionable league 1 sides this season play us this season and look well organised but straightforward in their play eg Northampton and Orient. Critchley not doing it. Cant see success with him as manager though seems to be "head coach".

The reason is that our goals are conceded from set pieces and not scored from good chances. That's a talent issue not a formation issue. Don't get me wrong I've always wanted 4231 and I don't like 3 at the back but to put it all on the formation is kidding ourselves.
 
We've been better than Tuesday that's for sure.
There's a lot of space, I'd take Lavery off and, I'm amazed to suggest, we put CJ up top, slot him in and let him run at them.
He might just shank one past their keeper.

Aye, bring him on last half hour with Dembele and we may get something from it.
 
Conceding goals from set-pieces is nothing to do with the formation it is about abysmal defending. Free header at the near post on the edge of the six yard box. There is no organization, no one taking responsibility. They are just walking past us on the right side. Pennington is very shaky when the opposition run at him and Gabriel leaves him exposed again basic defending.
