I disagree about the comparison with other small clubs; I live in Hartlepool, Pools have never had any 'real' success, never been higher than the 3rd tier, 2 play off finals (one of which was National League) have no infrastructure to speak of, haven't had the investment Pilley has put in, but they take hundreds every where they go and it's just as hard to go from Hartlepool as it is from Fleetwood.Aye ok but you could say similar things about other clubs where being small isn't really important, and where I guess you could say AP has maximised FTs (very small) potential.
The thing i find quite striking is the effect its had on the local community, where the training/leisure facilty has been excellent and local folk have bought into it.
If the Seasiders could replicate that on a similar but pro rata basis, then it would improve not only Championship status but also improve the inner wards in the town.
I understand the catalytic impact of the development of training ground etc, but to be fair that's not the primary purpose of a football club; everything a club does is about the performance at a match - it's hugely important, it's great for the community, but it's not an altruistic move.
I can't wait for us to be doing same, hopefully we appreciate it more than the townsfolk of Fleetwood.
