My extended family are loyal pool fans
I’ve been supporting since 1959
Although we live near the south coast and it’s nearly a 600 mile round trip we still see plenty of matches and until recently had season tickets
We’ve lived with decades of under achievement but somehow that was bearable and consolidated our support
But now perhaps it’s to do with my age but I feel really let down:
Well paid players, manager and coaching staff underachieving and not learning from mistakes
Giving 4 year contracts to failing manager and poor players
Watching players struggling and wasting time trying to continually play the ball around the defence without skill, tempo or commitment
Our best 2 player’s likely as loaners to leave and our next 2 best strangely not playing or being picked
I also find it incredible that a player whose only positive is speed gets a 4 year contract
The Cambridge and Burton games were almost the last straw
Please make changes as if I am losing faith there will be many more like me………

What a load of angsty, hyperbolic drivel.

"I really feel let down" and "I've been supporting the club since 1959'.

And you feel let down now? After what our club has been through since you've been supporting it, you feel let down now after a couple of mediicre performances?

If you live on the South Coast maybe you should start supporting Brighton or Bournemouth.

As much as I don’t like individualing out a supposed supporter of our club ( who you are meant to support through thick, thin and wafer thin ) , you’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head with your reply, TheLuker 👍🏻

An absolute disgraceful comment .
And to flippantly tell them to support Bournemouth after they have said something you disagree with is poor form indeed

You'd think some of our fans had never lived through the Oyston years when the club was a car crash waiting to happen, whatever you may not like about the current regime it's light years away from the dark days back then.

However I do think Simon does need to recognise that Critch is a coach and not a manager, for him to be successful he needs to right people around him and if I'm brutally honest he should just coach the team and let a more experienced and proven man manager run the team on match days.

Right now we don't have the quality needed to make a run at promotion, so whoever manages the team we cannot expect to go up with the current squad, if we lose Rhodes in the January window we're even further away from having the team we want, over to Simon to see if he can make the right calls needed for us to make a run at the play offs this season.

After the asset strippers, fans hoped new ownership would bring pride in the club.

Would YOU trek 600 miles for a crap meal?

A wretched music concert, or cinema film?

Only two MEDIOCRE performances?

Pathetic displays.

And Bolton, Wycombe, Lincoln and Exeter?

Not even a single goal in six hours' play.

You seem to masturbate over the mere chance to watch rubbish away from home.

Less TheLuker, more TheW*nk*r

What a totally childish reply.

People are entitled to an opinion and the O/P has one if you have a different one fair enough just disagree but no need to slag him off in the way you have.

Pathetic.

Yes the Pool have no consistency at the moment but that has to be one of the best wet blanket o/p ever! On the pitch, could be better. Off the pitch and how EVERYTHING is now ran like a real professional football club seems to not have registered with some. Feeling let down? Let's go back to starting the season with about 5 registered has-beens and free transfers, a pitch that looks like a dogs arse on a bad day and our classy Centre of Excellance next to the wheelie bins in our 1950s training ground. Not to mention nematodes and a part time milk man looking after general maintenance.

FFS we got beat away from home and the usual meltdowns
Yep we got beat by Burton...... I will repeat, the mighty Burton with no win in nine and no Manager.

Do I also need to mention that against the Mighty Burton, we couldn't even muster a shot on target...acceptable?. Get a grip

For me that's cause for concern, not the pathetic apathy for mediocrity shown by some posters.

No ones criticising the running of the club though, we are pretty much all delighted with that side of things and Sadler is the person responsible for that and the people he has employed. That is great and after what we used to have a bit of a dream. This is about the football, nothing else and the way we are playing away from home. We surely want us to get promoted or be in the top 6 and as it stands there are a lot of supporters who are fed up with the tactics, it is always the way and always will be. It is the same at every club around the world. It's just a message board at the end of the day and a place for differing opinions. We all just want success if we can and if we can't at least be entertaining.

So you are happy to abuse a supporter of over 60 years who has journeyed thousands of miles to watch the Pool, because you disagree with their view.
What’s wrong with you?
Pathetic behaviour.

Don't think there is a need to get deep. It's just shit. People won't want to watch shit, gates will fall as a consequence.

Critchley could possibly turn it around by changing tactics but he's running out of time.
The thing is, he isn't going anywhere, it matters not what any of us think so we have to hope he will change things around a bit. We are fine at home but the opposite away from home. He may be disappointed with the players but he picks the side and they are playing his tactics and they clearly aren't working away from home. This January window could be pivotal, not because of who we bring in but who we lose.

There are some Hertford, it's like The Oystons never happened and Sadler is somehow in it just to make a quick buck. Fuck me it must be costing him a fortune.

Totally agree re the 'tactics' which work every 3rd game, I wonder why Critchley doesn't have 2 or 3 formations to roll out when needed. A bit bizarre really. Scouting us as sn upcoming opponent must be fairly easy, show the wide man on the left down the line and 9 times out of 10 he won't take it cos he hasn't got a left peg.

I suspect the players crave a bit of something different every now and again which may explain why the put in stellar performance one week and look laboured and shit the next. Give the opposition credit too, they will have planned on how to deal with our rigid 3-5-2 and wingers who can't play as wingers. We have a good squad, very good for this division, but can't find any form really.

I'm not concerned in the slightest, more annoyed when we lose at Burton and others when we should be doing miles better with our talents. We are 8th so fuck me stop posting people like we are 22nd.

However, Critch may find that the players get fed up and disillusioned with the same shit each week and that will see us start to lose regularly. Time will tell. I'm resigned to being in League 1 for a while yet but some think we are Real Madrid and should be running away with it. Based on what, exactly? At least 5 or 6 teams look like they have good squads, hence us being just below them due to our inconsistencies.

Keep the faith

NC will remain as you say. However Sadler should be concerned because revenues will undoubtedly fall from disgruntled supporters... everything seems very flat at the moment....as a group I’ve always felt we like to enjoy ourselves at matches irrespective, to a degree,of the results ... too much of what’s on offer at the moment... kills the spirit.

I'm with fcblackpool on this, I think he needs an experienced coach/ex manager alongside him to challenge him and add a different view, it's getting a bit late for this season but that would be my number one signing if I was Simon Sadler. I think we have Critchley at least until the end of next season, whatever happens so he needs some experience alongside him.

What a load of crap….. talk about burying your head in the sand 🙄
And talk about an overreaction every time we suffer a defeat.

Our home form is good we just need to grind out some draws away and the odd win and I'm sure Critchley will be trying to achieve this .

But like Appleton before some our fanbase just never wanted Critchley back and won't get over themselves until he's gone.

Absolute certainty for the most pathetic post of 2023. Well done sir (doffs cap)

I appreciate the mixed replies
but I have no intention of supporting anyone else
I suppose after the Oyston era and the very positive Sadler take over perhaps our hopes were raised prematurely
I see the current situation as a massive lost opportunity in a poor league
The disappointment which is shared by many supporters at games and on here is that we don’t learn from mistakes
Tactics, team selection and mid game changes could be so much better
I suppose that as another poster said we are only halfway through the season so perhaps all is not lost……yet

fwiw, i think the title of the thread is a bit, no a lot, cringe worthy but there's plenty in the body of your post I agree with.

Blaming the fans for Critchley's inability to create a team that can compete with Cambridge, Burton, etc is an interesting concept.

We have an excellent squad with a lot of quality even without Rhodes, although I pray to God we keep him. The manager OTOH is disposable and we should do just that, times up.

Why do you lie all the time?

You have frequently criticised the running of the club and those running it - Sadler, Mansford, Gerritty, Critchley etc etc.

At least be consistent with your bullshit and vitriol.

We've been much worst over the years.

I too, now live on the South Coast and attend as many matches as I can (more away than home, sadly) I have attended ALL the cup and play-off finals since the 70’s, bar one. I was also stood on the old Kop terraces with my dear late father, on a cold evening back in January 1970, watching my beloved team (a 2nd Div side at that time) knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup, after being 0-2 down at half-time. A very late Micky Burns header seeing the Gunners off - on what was one hell of a night. I live for nights like that, but am realistic to know that they don’t come along like London buses - for they are rare - VERY rare - which makes them the memorable matches they end up being. Like ALL fans, I want my club to be extremely successful. I want them to play like the mesmerising Brazil team of old, which used to thrash every other team 3 or 4 nil, year in and out, but I’m a realist and know it‘s highly unlikely to ever happen. Even clubs with billionaire owners, struggle to compete successfully for trophies in this day and age. There are only so many leagues and competitions that any one club can win, so it’s much more likely than not, that your club won’t be amongst the winners. Yes, you can throw big money at supposed decent players. Yes, you can persist in faffing about changing selections, systems, tactics etc and/or your coaches/managers - until hopefully you find something that consistently works for your club, but change isn‘t always guaranteed to promote success. Do we not all make mistakes in our everyday daily lives? A manager/coach, picks a team that he thinks can do a job on the day. Sometimes, that might result in your favourite player missing out. These decisions are made with good intent, based on what the management team see in training and taking into consideration any injuries.
Re: finances. You can throw as much money around as you’re able to, but there are no guarantees you’ll end up with a successful winning formula at the end of it. On the flip-side, one only has to look at the amazing achievement of Luton Town this past year. Small budget. Small stadium. No real big name players. Yes, they made it to the ‘promised land’, but had to endure five years of non-league status enroute and only re-entered League football ten years ago. Anyway, I’m starting to ramble - my point is, that we ALL stick together through thick or thin, win or lose. We’re not Celtic of the SPL, thank God. They pretty much expect to win EVERY game and invariably do. How monotonously boring must that be? Football is about highs and lows. Wasn’t it great when we thrashed Pompey away, but then not so great when we then lost at home to Northampton Town - but that’s football. It’s not a precise science. We’re only half way through the season and there will be many more dramas to come. Some will go our way, whilst others sadly won’t. Getting huffy and criticising those that are trying their best for the club, isn’t the way forward. Division within a club is unhealthy. We rise and/or fall as ONE. We’ve come a long way since the Oyston days. We’re extremely lucky. We’ve got a local, born and bred, passionate owner, that is slowly but surely improving our club. If you can’t see that, then you’ve had your heads buried in the sand. I won’t bore you all by saying Rome wasn’t built in a day, . . . . but it wasn’t. 🤫 (sorry I lied) Our ‘job’ as fans, shouldn't be to cause unrest, but to get behind the players, manager/coach and owner and to sing and chant our hearts out, week in and out, no matter what. After all, at the end of the day - we’re just one big passionate, Northern footballing family with a proud history. I can feel Stan and Jimmy nodding in agreement from here. Happy New Year to us all. ⚽👍🏼
