PNE v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 01.04.23

Will we get locked in the ground and then outside the ground for half an hour and treated like a herd of animals again?

without a doubt. be interesting to see if they sell alcohol to us, give us any pubs to drink in, or whether we will be unwelcomed told to drink elsewhere and treated like cattle upon arrival into Deepdale.

From what my Preston friends have told me, that is exactly how they were treated after the game too. Held outside the stand for half an hour and then escorted back to Blackpool North and essentially told to fuck off.

Assuming so if the same police force are in charge... that's exactly my experience from visiting your place this season.

i wonder how many officers are on duty for these 2 games this season? wouldn't mind seeing a list of how many per each fixture this year in the Championship and seeing how close to the top this one is. I believe Leeds v Man Utd was 900 officers last Feb, being the most policed PL game ever.

It seems like to me the Police can't handle the game, particularly with PNE fans moaning about their treatment at Bloomfield Road, and us vice versa at Deepdale last season. The away fans are always being recorded, escorted, given pubs (if lucky), held behind etc. It's a tough treatment.

100% in the ground.
Not sure about outside

The same happened to us this season though.
I left on my own after 70 mins or so and the police wouldn’t let me walk back to my car on the big open car park.

I haven’t a clue as to how McCarthy will set us up, the Coventry result may affect his thinking and it is also an away game and so far Mick has set us up very defensively away from home.

Preston’s home record is worse than ours and Bottom 3 in the Championship, just 5 wins in 19 games and only 14 goals scored, although the home results have improved recently.

Preston’s away record is excellent, Top 4 Championship, only 5 defeats away from home so far and one of those defeats was our magnificent 4-2 win under Appleton back in Oct.

Blackpool under McCarthy have not picked up even a point away from home and we have lost all 6 away games, time for McCarthy to break his duck at Deepdale next Saturday. A win and doing the double over Preston could transform the remainder of our season.

No they weren't. If that was the case, why were there incidents around South Station and elsewhere?

Was anyone hit by a wheelie bin or showered with rubble?

We were held back for ages, slowly released, and told to go to Blackpool north for trains. Obviously some of us went to the south (my car was parked there) and that's where the neanderthals turned up. Let's just be honest and say the away experience for our derbies is very poor, but the knuckle draggers on both sides really don't help.

I don’t condone violence on innocent fans just walking back to their cars / buses / trains in order to leave a football game safely, but there will always be the minority that go looking for ‘action’.
I’ve also got no confidence in the police either who imo like to do their utmost to stir things up.
I’m hoping that both sets of fans can attend and leave safely next Saturday without another tragedy.

I know the head of security at Preston. He has informed me that turnstiles open at 10.30, and alcohol will be served before kick off, but not during the match.

If we go defensive in this game we'll get turned over, no doubt. Need to be full throttle and full bloodied from ko, try and keep 11 on the field and you never know. Hoping I've got a very thick head in Sunday and can smile through the pain! UTMP

Our only hope is that away from goes out of the window. If it doesn’t, guaranteed defeat as we can’t win away from home and are miles off from doing so.

Mccarthy has had 2 weeks to install his gung-ho all out attack, flair mode activated style of play...

So I'm going for a 1-0 loss where we lump it long to Yates all match 😀

Not on here to start owt, genuinely interested to know what your thoughts are on your chances?

Gotta say you've got a chance for sure, our home form this season has been awful (granted better results lately). We will miss Diabys presence & pace (despite his shocker at your place!). Evans is pretty critical to how we play so hopefully he's back fully fit.

If you guys get an early goal I'd be worried. Genuinely struggling to call this one, though clearly want us to win!

Safe travels for those that making the away trip.

COYW!
