Points from August's Games?

Work rota for August came out today and so was just checking there were no football clashes and hadn't really studied the fixtures and was 'pleasantly' surprised by who we play. Maybe it's just because we've not been in this league for a while but they all seem teams we should be doing well against.

Burton H
Exeter A
Port Vale H
Leyton Orient H
Lincoln A

Would be disappointed with less than 8 points from that lot - think we can get 11.

15 points we have signed some leaders who will not settle for draws

That’s the mentality we need to adapt.

Until the transfers are done I’m not sure wha to expect but the three home games in August are a platform to build some new rhythm on and I’m sure our support will be well behind the lads.

Septembers fixtures almost deserve their own thread. Looks a tough run of games.

Beginning of a season is always a bit squiffy when it comes to results and upsets. We generally don’t tend to start that well. I’d hope for a minimum of 8 but wouldn’t be surprised if it was 5/6/7.

9 points unbeaten start 💪

It all depends on how well we olay and how well the opposition teams play. And refereeing decisions, and lady luck.

In other words, i haven't got a clue.

We've got very little flair in the squad yet. I really hope Critch is doing something about that.

Promoted by Christmas ? How about we wait and see , like in the good old days . Just enjoy your summer for goodness sake . It'll all become clearer when it's September

Would want a win against Burton in front of a big Bloomfield Road crowd.
Exeter were horrendous last season and no reason why we can't get all 3 points.
Port Vale and Leyton Orient are both there for the taking.
Lincoln is the only one we might slip up.

Am going a conservative 10

We don't know what our squad will look like or who the teams to watch are, there are always surprises.

15 is the target!

Plenty of draws I reckon as we should have a solid enough defensive set up but very little creativity currently

5 or 6 points

Burton - Win
Exeter - Draw
Port Vale - Win
Leyton Orient - Win
Lincoln - Draw

11 points.

Think we will do OK but not the 12-15 everyone’s expecting. 9 or 10.

Couple of shocks could be on the cards like a defeat away at Exeter or at home to Port Vale. This is what happens in league 1.

If we have any ambition at all, as one of the relegated clubs we should be targeting automatic. And the clubs that go up automatically will likely be beating all five of those teams.

D3 L2 = 3 points. The usual knee-jerk reactionaries give it the large one about the club being doomed, Sadler is the new Oyston and hopes to sell the land to build an Aldi.

Crazy winning run ensues in September and we eventually finish 2nd with 99 points.

At the moment am going 8 - two wins and two draws but I hope by the time the season starts my expectation will be more around 12/13.

Burton H Win - has to be really to get us off to a good start
Exeter A - Win - Awful at the end of last season
Port Vale H - We'll slip up somewhere and can't work out this game or the next
Leyton Orient H - Ditto
Lincoln A - No great shakes and I think we'll get something

11 out of 15 points for me.

That first game is a biggie this year - new squad, returning manager, expectant fans .. similar result to last night would go down very nicely!

Depends on weather NC adopts his backpassing shite.. seems to have a slow starts.
Realistic results
Burton H 1
Exeter A 0
Port Vale H 3
Leyton Orient H 1
Lincoln A 0

5 points.

Wow @Sunpool #relegatedbyEaster if that was the case and their would be civil unrest at Bloomfield Road if these were the scores!!

Agree @Maths - one game at a time but I remember when Critchley was appointed and we talked about the importance of that first home game. Against a mid-table side with a fully fit squad and a decent crowd at BR, there will be some pressure for 3 points.

As it gets closer, anyone else gone from thinking we'll piss this league to reminding themselves how bloody tricky some of these teams are to beat!

You need to make a statement at home and with those 3 games you have to be looking at 7 points. Exeter are awful and we should be looking for a win and I’d take a draw at Lincoln.

11 from 18 would be a decent start but I’d be looking more towards 13-15.

Haven't heard much about Exeter, Vale or Leyton Orient but I think Burton and Lincoln have done OK business.
Here is my prediction. None of these teams will be Top 6 by the end of the season and so we should be getting something from all these games.

I'm going to Exeter and coming home with three points !

Burton 1-0
Exeter 1-2
Port Vale 2-0
Leyton Orient 2-1
Lincoln 1-1

13 points.
