Poland votes leftish

Great news.

Actually it's centrish, with some left wing support, as opposed to very right wing with extreme right wing support.

One of the most distinguished European politicians of the last 2 decades now likely to lead the Government.

Donald Tusk is still loved and revered by all the Brexiteers in this country. He'll do a fantastic job, and pull Poland away from what was becoming an authoritarian state.

Well, the nutter Trump was ousted; Bolsonaro in Brazil; Lying Bastard in this country.

Can we hope for 3 more? Putin, Erdogan and Orban?

A good friend of mine is Polish, though he's lived in Blackpool now for 15 years.

We occasionally chat politics and while I'm far from familiar with Polish politics, it's clear the Gammon playbook worked perfectly; distort the facts, whip up hatred (in particular recently the target has been Ukrainian refugees, with a 'coming here, taking our jobs' line, which is absolutely heartbreaking, along with the predictable LGBT narrative about corrupting children), even a new right-wing TV news channel populated by conspiracy theorists, tabloid journalists, and politicians.

As my friend said, though, it took a while, people eventually got wise to the nonsense and it looks like they have voted accordingly. I hope we do the same next year too.

Hopefully countries all over the world voting against any extremism, be it left or right.
Maybe the UK set a trend by handing Corbyn such a thumping defeat.
Indeed. I would love to see the Palestinians reject Hamas completely. I also want the Israelis to turn their backs on Netenyahu and Likud. Unfortunately, I can only see both sides becoming more entrenched.
