Pool fans you still Back Critchley???

No get rid now. All these people referencing his gold standard coaching qualifications need a reality check. Ever been on these courses? It means his homework was in on time and he could draw a pie chart showing percentage of training concentrating on muscle strengthening, percentage on team shape, percentage on nutrition etc etc etc. Basically all bollocks.
What these courses don’t show is whether he can motivate, spot a player etc etc

Not at the moment no. I don’t think he is going to be able to turn it round to be honest.
Maybe if we can still do some serious business before the deadline, but I doubt we are in a position to do so now(squad nos/salary cap etc). Maybe if he is prepared to change the system and style of play it would help as I don’t think we have good enough players to achieve what he wants.
Right now if I was SS I would be looking for a replacement I think.

Get rid now and what?

He's going nowhere soon so I back him.
Phil described him on another thread as an "apprentice" and that is clearly the case and add to that he is managing a fair few apprentices.
He, and his squad, now have to show they can learn from their mistakes.
We have a squad mainly on a minimum of 2 year contracts so if they don't improve we are in a very precarious position.

Yes but just, another five games like the last and out the fcukin door you go. Football at our level is all about results,no time for the slow patient build. Get results or out.

A definite NO. I said from the outset that he was a ridiculous appointment. Completely out of his depth. It's vastly different coaching cream of the crop youngsters to play the Lpool way to coaching mid 20's misfits in league1. Signing a bunch of league2 and released players was always a recipe for disaster. Mansford and Johnson should go too.

Yes, although watching that this afternoon was very disappointing and it's natural to over react when things keep going wrong.

You have to start seeing improvement by 10 league games and again by Christmas. if this continues and we are well adrift at the foot of the table then SS has some serious thinking to do, There was much to like by the new players but much to worry about by the lack of experience.

Exactly, Critchley is a coach, and seems to be able to coach well because we're playing some good football at times, but what he can't seem to do, and is ultimately why we implode, is motivating players after a set back. he lacks the man management skills needed to be successful, something Ollie had in abundance.

Yes. 5 games in. Let's not panic and throw everything away. Especially as the squad is fixed in place until January after next Friday.

A couple of players might improve from today's team but not significantly enough to propel us up the league. I believe most of this team are playing at their optimum level.

Yes

I do think he needs an old footballing head alongside him, there needs to be a plan B when chasing games, and it isn't bringing on a defensive mid. If anyone argues that that may dent the players confidence, losing all these games, including the last two league games badly, ain't helping anyone. I would like to give him a season, but we need to see progress. If by Christmas it is gelling, as long as we are out side the relegation zone, let him continue.

I just want to see some footballing nouse to go alongside the pretty passing, I want to see forwards shooting on site and bullying defences, we are almost a non contact side.

Yes usually we aim for 19;points in December.so plenty of time. Points of concern however are I was taught never trust a man who,s every second word is ”um” NC should take note.
NC,s choice of Ward ,Yates and Madine baffles me but he must know something I can’t see.
He disposes of Macdonald but keeps Turton, who seems at best a journeyman.Same as above a baffled.
My favourite nonleague team seem to possibly have another Potential Vardy type on their hands.
Somebody must remind NC that worse than any poor results would be the cigar stubber,s team up the road doing better than us.
Let,s hope at some stage NC injects a backbone into our team.

I’m struggling to see what the aim is at the moment. We don’t play like we’re modelled on Liverpool, and the whole team seems ‘flat’ to me- I mean this as in the the defence and midfield seem to be in static lines, instead of say a midfielder being the anchor, or one cb dropping as one pushes up- it means that there is gaps between defence, midfield, attack, and no one filling the ‘pockets’. It desperately looks like we need some leaders on the pitch to get the tactics across and rollock the other players / be the manager on the pitch.

Will he go- NO

Will he get sacked- NO

Can this go on- NO

Can he adopt a more game friendly approach- Hand wavers

Logic then- HE NEEDS HELP WHETHER HE LIKES IT OR NOT.

SS has invested too much to watch a car crash in the making. Really, how long can you sit by and wait for the magic fairy dust to get sprinkled over SG?

You're a ridiculous supporter though. Aren't you? You must see it surely?

It's not working. It's 5 games.
10 games will be a fair barometer and even then if things are still not looking great, NC should be given this season and up til christmas 2021 to put his stamp on the team.
Calling for his head now is frankly ridiculous

I think there’s a chance it could continue to go wrong, I think there’s a chance it will start to go very well. People are right to point out questionable decisions and particular errors

For me the underlying question is why completely change the entire squad in such a short space of time when that naturally will take a lot of time to bring success, say at least two seasons, when the same thing could be achieved with way less psychological pressure and financial risk by just keeping some of the old spine together and replacing them more naturally over the course of a season, thereby having fully built your own first 11 but without the massive question marks and expectation?

But there’s honestly still a much bigger part of me which is just relieved to be talking about football problems. It’s nice to have football problems. You know, ones you can solve by playing football better. Which, I suspect, we will look to start doing.

Theres only 1 man....for this big job.....
Joey Barton

I actually think we have a really good squad of players in. A squad that could go a long way.

I just think Whispering Ted Lowe has no leadership skills to bring the best out of them in the weekly battles of L1. In fact it's obvious he hasn't already.

Give him at least until Christmas.

I’d like to know who is picking these transfer targets. There must be hundreds of better options available on a free all across Europe.

Five games in and fans are calling for NC to be sacked?! 😂

Yes, I still back him and I really hope he proves all you doubters wrong.

Yes, a whole new squad of players, the new centre backs will .and a difference . Give it time .
Should have read, the new centre backs will make a difference. Give Critch time, this is a long term project . I believe it will come good. Such a shame that the fans aren't in the ground to lift this young squad.

Yes but needs experience on and off the pitch. Ex coaches don’t often make good managers as it’s a very different skill set, look at Brian Kidd at T'Rovers and the Wally with the Brollie they hardly set the world alight!

McLaren is hit and miss- he’s done some excellent jobs and some shocking ones. I’d take him.

Alex Ferguson didn't exactly burn down bridges when he became Man U manager and it took him a while to make an impact at the club. From memory I think they finished mid-table for a couple of seasons. So, I am willing to give him more time, as not much damage has been done yet, it's early in the season.

A settled team, with players playing in their best position would be a good start.

One thing Madine showed yesterday was that if you are in the right place, at the right time, you will snaffle a goal from close in. That has certainly been missing and wasn't often used yesterday. Ipswich are a good side and their plan to double mark our top scorer, sit back and hit us on the break worked well. Critch needs to be aware of that tactic and have a plan B and plan C to counter that. Being a glass half full man, I'm hopeful that things will improve beginning next week at Crewe, and yes, I was annoyed and disappointed during and after the game yesterday.
