Portsmouth v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 20.02.21

You should note that I've given them due credit for today. They need to keep it going now. If Critchley had signed better than Simms, Embleton and Stewart in January I'd feel more confident.
This calendar year is more to the point P7 W4 D1 L2.
Seriously.. better than them 3?... do you think we are man city. Personally im happy with them signings and not sure what you expect a league one team to sign, particularly when already got a strong squad who are going up! Utp

Pool won’t play well every week , but getting results is the name of the game
grinding out results at hard places like Portsmouth
yes in parts pool could play better , but hopefully our defence play can keep going
I still believe in Neil and the team , and I will be honest , I still anit sure on critchley, but like I said I will support him 🧡

Yes, I think we could have done better. We appeared to be shopping in the under 21/23's and out of contract market.

I think Simms has some way to go, but puts more in than Woodburn did. I still Critchley should have gone for a more experienced / proven striker in January.
I think that is just an unrealistic expectation. Experienced good strikers are simply not available in January window or go for silly money. Easy to be spendthrift with someone else's cash. Simms was probably best available option and I think will make a contribution this season.

He may or may not, but shopping in the under 21 market rarely works out.

What if it is with a view to signing him? Yates and Madine are first choice you don’t get many experienced goal scorers happy to sit on the bench, this lad (two on his full debut) will cause havoc off the bench and this run in the side in a mans game will do him the world of good.

I should imagine Everton will give him a season or so to see if he can force his way into their first team. Pool may well be on the look out for a couple of decent strikers in the summer as Madine's future isn't assured.

Hopefully some of the youngsters playing well in the under 18s will start
coming through to challenge for some game time in the first team.
He won't touch any U18s at all this season. He didn't start them in cup games that didn't mean anything. He's not going to start anyone in the league.

Maybe when CJ is back and gets those crosses into the box we will see the best of Simms?
