Positives from today

Yates looks back to his very best.
Yates madine partnership looks good again,
Keshi gets better with every game
The dougal Carey partnership in midfield looks a good combination
The Viking came back and I thought looked like he should be A shoe in in that position although his distribution was a bit off at times.
Think there’s a real prospect in young Sony... just needs to add a little bulk and learn how to use his body better... that will come with game time👍

Loads of positives
  • Good goalkeeping cover (both Grimshaw and Moore from what I've seen so far)7
  • Keogh back to add much needed experience to the already improving back line
  • Carey looking at home at this level
  • Today showed we don't always need to play with 2 defensive MF, Carey and Dougal played well together, less long balls today
  • Madine still winning most of the balls and lays them off well/accurately
  • Lay offs worked well because players were closer to GM when he won/laid off the ball, unlike the Luton game
  • As posted already, Keshi is becoming an excellent championship level player, hope we can keep him
  • Jerry took his goal well because he took it early, great strike. Madine troubled them until he went off.
  • We played very well today, but couldn't manage to sustain the intensity, then the sending off cost us
  • We're not far from being a very good championship side, just need to keep our discipline and see games out

I'm disappointed tonight, but not worried. We'll be fine. UTP

Bowler had another good game too.
Gretarsson will improve with game time and did ok today.
Carey is becoming a player to seriously consider for starting games regularly. In an area we are short.
Yates looks right back on it.
We looked a good side for an hour. Just handled going down to ten men badly. Overdid the re-organisation.

Yep Yates and Madine work best together and we look threatening.

Bowler is better, his balls in and through balls are improving.

We played well today and only when down to 10 did they dominate.

Play like that with our improved attacking play and we'll.

Keshi at one point drifted past people like they weren't there.

Some good positive things to take despite the disappointment.

Yates, Madine, Anderson, Dougall, Marv - make up a strong spine of the team - add in a few others when fit and you realise we aren’t a bad outfit.

A game we would have won with 11 men. So nearly a great away performance. Gabriel's 2 yellow cards were avoidable and he will come back with a point to prove. We are a threat going forward with 2 strikers and 2 wide men,. With a run in the team Gretarsson looks like he could be a quality player.

Many positives from the game. It would have been three points if it was not for the sending off. More than matched Huddersfield up until that point. Madine has had some stick on here but forms a very decent partnership with Yates. Looks as if we have a very decent player in Carey.

I agree that we played well for an hour and broadly speaking I think we are getting there but there were one or two things which let us down IMO.

Gabriel had a mare and will need a spell out to give Sterling a run while he reflects on it.

I agree that Carey and Dougall showed we can play with more attacking intent in CM but there were times when the usual level of cover for the back four was missing. This will improve.

I will probably get stick from those who have fallen in love with Grimmy but for me he doesn’t dominate his area enough and stays rooted on his line rather than claim the ball too often. He’s a good shot stopper and ball player but a nightmare on crosses.

When Madine plays we can hold the ball up to relieve the defence but without him we are incapable of doing so. When down to 10 it made no sense to take him off. Perhaps we should have bunged Marv or Keogh up front to win some headers.

Still feel positive but we need some tweaks and with more experience we would have won this game.

I thought the Vikings distribution was pretty good, better than Marv's in recent games.

it wasnt bad but normally its one of his big strengths, and he was a bit off the pace yesterday quite a few balls into touch. As a CH partnership ive got a feeling that might be the one
I think it might be the one. They looked very good together last season, while it lasted. Their first game together was Burton away! We took 25 points from Gretarsson's 12 league games last season. 12 goals conceded.

given sterling was in for gabriel for 3 games befre last week and we lost all 3 no goals gabriel gives us that extra in midfield and the last 2 games he has played we looked better attacking wise and scored 5 goals so no i wouldnt leave gabriel out apart from his 1game suspension
