Positives

Sounds like Nelson had a tight groin but Mick didn't want to risk it, given all the games coming up.

So that'll be positive if he's available next game.

Lavery might not be out that long, but unknown yet.

Well it could have been a lot worse, I can think of three positives...
- I didn't develop a serious neck injury watching it (hope everyone else is ok)
- the grass is going to be in much better condition because the ball didn't really touch it for most of the game
- and, last but not least, we could have been battered in a local derby 😀

In football you don't always win the games you think you will, a couple of more unexpected wins against Swansea etc aren't impossible.

We're in a poor position, but now isn't the time to give up.
They’re a bunch of Jessie’s some of our so called supporters. We’ve had plenty of relegation scraps before over the years. Until it’s mathematically impossible we’re staying up. 👍

The seagulls were enjoying themselves

It didn't rain

Carey kicking it straight into the east stand was one of the wildest things I've seen

The next games are not 6 pointers so we can lose the games and the other teams might lose too

Players were up for the physical side of the game and giving as good as they got and winning personal battles

Rotheram didnt saunter through the midfiled unchalleneged

Yates workrate was immense. Thornley looked solid. Connolly solid as ever. Maxwell pulled off another good save. CJ covered a lot of ground and the trajectory of the throw; much improved.

We now realise Bowler is an impact player off the bench.

Andy Lyons got a full 90 minutes in as did Josh Bowler so that’s going to help. That right flank is where our survival comes from.

Our centre backs might not be 6’5” but we’re imperious even when Rotherham brought Hagrid on.

Kenny won almost all of his midfield duals and we looked stronger for first 15 mins when we had him and Tommy T together.

Rodgers looks a handful and is prepared to track back and tackle - he’s got to start sooner or later.

We are 2 game’s unbeaten unlike the Nobbers

We look a much better team than under Appleton as at least we are competing and look more committed (even if it’s not pretty)

(As an aside I thought Olly Rathbone looked a player for them)

Possibly avoid two humiliating derbies next season, as Accies and Shrimps in bottom four
If the unthinkable happens along with Morecambe staying up, i can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Clarendon Hotel. Bar shuts at 10pm but the basement night club is open till 1am.

Kept a clean sheet
I thought Maxwell made a couple of quality saves

Other than that I genuinely thought it was one of the worst games of football I’ve ever seen

Positives... the seagulls will stop flying around the ground for fear of being hit by the ball, we don't need to spend much money on the playing surface, we can save water by not watering it before a game and at half time, the balls are lighter these days so the constant heading won't cause CTE and we can cut back on staff when attendances fall cos of the utter garbage on offer.

The players are still giving 100%, seen plenty of relegations before when the players at the time have effectively downed tools. This bunch won’t do that. There’s still enough in this squad to get us out of the drop zone. Swansea could be one of those games where we have 20% of the ball and sneak a scabby win. Keep the faith.

Perhaps if we actually passed the ball to feet Josh may be a bit more than an impact player. For us to stay up he needs to be.

Whether you’re an optimist or a pessimist makes no difference to the outcome, but the optimist has a much better ride👍🏻

Might need Connolly for midfield if Nelson is available to come in at cb but agree they were solid yesterday
Yes agree would need move Hubbie cb, Lyons LB and Gabriel rb if Nelson not fit to allow Connolly to play in yet another position.
Should be given a long contract and club captain for me, with all the lightweights injured all the time he really is a warrior.

I thought Charlie looked like he benefited from the break. Back to getting to getting into some space, wanting the ball and a couple of great tackles.
Feel a bit sorry for Charlie, he's absolutely not a MM type player but he always gives his all, under Appleton it was left to him to run our midfield which he clearly needed a Stewart type player with him and even yesterday it amazed me at all our throw ins, he was the only player moving to try and get on the ball and he keeps taking it in all situations and our more experienced players just leave him to it.
Also I'm yet to understand why we haven't played him in an advanced position yet as an att cm.
He's young, got mistakes in him but will be a good player in the future.

I had a fish dinner at Yorkshire fisheries and nowhere near as good as Kays in Cleveleys.
It only cost me £2 return from Liverpool thanks to Northern rail Offer.
Trains we’re all on time,

We are only 1 point from safety today.

Good points.
With development, Lyons is going to be a very good player. He does need to concentrate on & improve his defensive duties (similar to Jordan), as he was caught out badly a couple of times yesterday and it could have cost us the 1 point.

Some of us said that last week about Bowler and were slaughtered. Goes to show...

We can't afford the gap above Cardiff to widen though, as we don't want to be a battle between us & just 3 other teams.
We simply have to start winning games.

The gap this time last week was 3 points. Now it's one to Cardiff and 5 to Rotherham.

Agree we need to start winning. Back to back wins and the situation looks a lot different.

and equally so I said that if he wasn't a match winner then you'd be gloating you were right. So I suppose that you're happy to be right on this occasion. Meanwhile we dropped two points. Bowler valued at 4 million with just four months left on his contract, Hamilton wouldn't get 400k. Spot the difference. But hey if you think Hamilton is a better player than Bowler then that's your choice to make.

It's not so black and white.

Here's another example for you. Tony Green was always a better player than Billy Bentley as a midfielder, but if the team shape required one to track back and cover the defence, then Billy would be your choice.

In the situation we're in, McCarthy wants defensive solidity. Bowler has a lot of attributes but defensive solidity isn't one of them.

I don’t think anyone is happy, but he was largely ineffective during the game. I’m convinced that he’d have had a bigger influence on that game coming on in the last 20.

His value is irrelevant really… The team that bought him farmed him out on loan without even looking at him and he’s failed to make an impact on the first team (hence him returning here).

You’re taking this way too personally 20’s…. CJ and Josh are different types of players … but in terms of influence on games as a starter, CJ is doing what he’s being asked to do.

totally nonsense comparison. Tony Green was an attacking midfielder. Bentley was mainly a left back who could play in midfield. Two totally different players with different strengths. CJ and Bowler are both wingers. So do you prefer CJ to Bowler? Like I said, a few clubs coveted Bowler. Not so sure Hamilton was in demand or ever has been by bigger clubs than us!

And of course you didn't address my other point. Funny how you accuse me of thinking I'm never wrong yet here you are gloating that you were right on this occasion. Even though it cost us two points. And I'll throw into the mix that Bowler probably created our best two chances on saturday. The cross late on and the one he slipped Carey in who put a tame effort into the keepers hands. Added in as well he hit a terribly skewed shot on his wrong foot in the first half. So it could have been different. But hey, two of those wouldn't have happened if he'd only got on the pitch for the last 20 minutes. Oh and I'd say he did plenty of tracking back too.
