Possibly a stupid CJ question

So we have a corner he stays on Half way line to cover if they break.

So when opposition have a corner why do we not do the same and stick him on half way for his pace? We never do this do we??

If we don't why oh why do we not even chasing a bloody game.. grimmy catches and then boot!!
We always used to leave a player up, unless it was an opposition corner in the last few minutes of the match. It seems crazy not to do so, for 2 reasons. Firstly, if the ball is cleared by us to our forward player they can relieve the ball just coming back in another opposition attack. Secondly, it forces the opposition to leave a couple of players back rather than coming up for their corner. And it is not just under NC we don't do this. We haven't done this for years. And every supporter I speak to makes the same point. Personally, I would leave Dembele up front, because when he gets the ball he tends to control it and do something with it.

Good point about demebele and didn't want to criticise CJ and his ability to actually control the ball.... what about demebele and CJ both up front the opposition would shit themselves!!.. imagine critch did this 🤪

The reason teams leave everyone back in corners it denies space for the attacking team.
If the ball ends up on the ground it's often blocked and cleared.

With those two staying up front the opposition would have to leave at least two possibly three back, one of which would be a big centre half, proper defensive cover rather than unchallenged sweeping up. Less opportunity for the opposition in our box and the chance to turn defence into attack.

Or Dembele?
Hes no defender!

I'd prefer we left 1 one up too but the reason being is that statistically you are less likely to concede when everyone is back as oppose to when one is left out.
i guess stats can be manipulated. For instance if we cleared the ball out from the corner but it came straight back in and they scored then the stats wouldn't show we conceded from the corner. But our failure to leave some-one further up field could stop the ball coming back in. So our failure to leave a man up could be a reason why we've conceded even though the corner stats wouldn't show that.

Yeh absolutely, stats can tell you pretty much what ever you want them to really.

No point.
By the time Grimshaw has finished cuddling and shagging the ball everyone is back in position.
We can then revert to Critchleys tactics of knocking it sideways at a snails pace.
Keep it tight lads
