Potential protest tonight?

Think it’s all rather petty from both sides to be honest.

The club for banning free speech (were not North Korea/Russia) and the protestors for arranging a protest.

Should never have got to this it’s just bad publicity the club could do without.

Nobbers laughing at us again. Not a good look.

Its not free speech if personal attacks are made publicly on the internet . These people in general aren't the brightest if they think they can go around insulting people who work for our beloved football team and expect too much support . Even the players or management who are doing a poor job ,are not being poor on purpose and should not be attacked or insulted on the internet . These people are no lose to the club.

I don't want to see any Pool fans end up getting banned from the ground for protesting too far.. Maybe the club could have just given them a warning about offensive language on twitter. Everyone should be allowed to voice an opinion but things can change so quickly in football. If we reach Wembley tonight and then beat Bolton Saturday it will all look a bit silly.

To protest about something like this kind of devalues what we all went through with the Oystons. There must be a better way of sorting this with all parties.

They were given plenty of warnings I believe before being blocked.

If it does go ahead, then the favourite chant of the protester(s) might be fun to listen to..

'What do I want'
'Free speech'
When do I want it?'
'NOW

There is no such thing as completely free speech. The freedom to speak one's mind on any subject is conditioned by the responsibility of the speaker not to speak in a manner that the recipient finds insulting or profaning. Nobody would answer the door to a person who then assaults them verbally, without closing the door on them. There is no obligation to stand and listen to the verbal assault under some misconceived notion that free speech obligates the listener to hear them out.

Nobody has the right to abuse anyone online.

There is a huge difference between opinions and abuse. I can, and do give my opinion freely, say at work, but I am not abusive and would get sacked on the spot if I were.

Abusing people can destroy the self-esteem and mental health of the targets. It’s bullying and intimidating and it’s not ok. Despite what the top table, or any table say.

Still all rather petty in my opinion from both sides.
Just shouldn’t have got to this.

Twitter is a private platform that users all parties to block other users. Nothing to do with "Free Speech".

The Club aren’t banning free speech… They’ve just blocked a few people who are persistently spamming their Twitter feed with abusive posts.

Most of those banned rarely offer anything positive to say about the club. I've been critical but like to also think balanced enough to give praise when the club deserve it. This spouting free speech as an argument is pathetic also. No one is stopping anyone from continuing to post their negative, critical, bile, it's just that the club don't want any interaction with them, as is their right. Some folk have a bit of growing up to do.

Wow. I’m not shy in voicing my concerns and have been critical but a demo? Batshit crazy to be honest.
