Pound for Pound our worse signing

So Trybull must be up there .. some obvious recent ones .. but players who have come, fleeced us and gone.

All this, he was trouble, it's all his fault, where is this from? over active imaginations I would say. Thommo, another not wanted, Critch won't play players that were signed when other managers were here apart from Hubby. Trybull is a good player, better than what we have, if he fell out with Critch, why is it all Trybull's fault.

Let's wait and se who comes in tomorrow and the result on Saturday. I have my idea how it will go!

He's terminated three contracts at clubs when have you ever heard that before?

Good player but don't blame Critch this is on who brought him to the club and the player himself.

Yeah only Husband. And Maxwell, Madine, Turton, Virtue, Ward and Lyons. But only them.

Lyons was a player on his list, when he first came in he had to play some of the players that were here but that's 6 players out of a mass of players, he soon fucked off plenty, to be fair to him, we have hardly signed anyone since he left and what we did sign have been crap, although Trybull is far from crap. Inreality the big problem has been the quality of players bought in.

Joe Nuttall for me hugely disappointing.

Was going to be the Bee’s knees great striker was highly rated at T’Rovers.

And didn't he cost us around £700,000? 😩
Never actually confirmed how much it was but I doubt it was 700k

Although it would make sense as it may have scarred Sadler when it comes to investing in players

Is it? I think it has more credence than it was all Trybull's fault. He was at Norwich for some time, played in the EPL and Championship and the supporters loved him. I know what I see, I can't help it if others wear the hoodie of wool over their eyes
Ah right so he wasn’t rushing to cancel his premier league and championship contracts then? Very big of him.

I don't think he is anywhere near Chris Malkin who cost us £ 275,000 in the early 90's famous for cutting his toe when mowing the lawn, I only
remember him scoring one goal and that was handball.

I am sure that Trybull didn't want to take a cut in wages to play in League One which would have been in his contract, he came on a free,
so cost us nothing. Along with Bridcutt he just wasted wages.

I remember Malkin scoring a screamer for us at home to Gillingham. Also scored at Millwall away shortly after we signed him. But didn't do much else!

Has anyone else heard the rumours about his missus? I don’t believe them to be true at all.
But I’m still trying to figure out which one of the Armfield’s ‘Directors and Owners’ it included.

I’d put Liam Bridcutt up there.
Was going to say, it's absolutely outrageous we had two players in the same position, in the same season come in play 2 games and then both picked up injuries and were ruled out for the rest of the season. An absolute horror show of a campaign, we never had a chance with shite like that happening.

I agree on this one 💯

Remember buzzing at us signing someone and going on a long-term deal, then seeing him play soon put a dampener on it.

To be fair, he’s probably better than Beesley.

One time Brian Clough target, Nigel Hawkins was a complete waste amongst others of dubious talent from that era included Gary Brook,Mark Gayle and the infamous Tony Diamond.
I followed Scottish football back in the 70's & supported Rangers (even though I was Catholic). Got very excited when we signed Alfie Conn in 1981, only 3 appearances, no goals. Ditto Gary Shaw from Villa although think a bad knee injury had meant his better days were behind him.

What about the unfit player we paid Sunderland for around a million!
Only played a handful of games before moving on to Forest.
Andy Reid.

Nuttall comes a close second and no way his he better than Beesley.
When he moved on he has found his level at NationalLeague

Nuttall definitely up there when you consider the dodgy dealings surrounding it.

Joe Nuttall's agent was David Dunn, Grayson's mate. Grayson signs Nuttall for about half a million apparently, not long after he appoints David Dunn as his assistant. He the turns out to be absolutely pony.

May have posted this before but due to our chief exec at the time (whoever was before Matt Williams) not understanding international transfer rules we ended up paying 100k+ at tribunal for Zarko Grabovac when we thought we were getting him for free, so he was probably a top 5 transfer fee for us at the time

Mike Summerbee. Played 3 games in the 76/77. Later admitted he should never have joined the club. Why not? We were flying that season. Always comes across as an arrogant man, must have thought he was too good for us. Never liked him.

Got sent off and that was that.

In the same vein, Willie Morgan. Spent more time on North Shore GC than on the training ground and pitch.

Tony Diamond...the winner by a country mile with bells on.
Signed as a 21 year old from Blackburn Rovers with the same hype as Joe Nuttall.
Said he didn't want to be here 2 days later and asked to terminate his contract.
Managed three games only in a side heading for the fourth division.
Released at the end of the season never to play in the football league again.
I'd like to know the inside story on that one.

Joe Nuttall hands down.

Has to be one of our worst signings ever just on the basis that he was a shocking player. Then on top of that there is the fact that we supposedly paid somewhere between 500k and 750k for him.

Of course there have been worse signings based solely on the player's impact/ability, but not that we've paid that sort of amount for.

Trybull stated he didn’t want to play for us anymore nothing to do with Critch, I guess his agent has another club lined up

Not sure about worst value signing but worst value signing has to be Brett Ormerod. We got nothing for him as the stains buried the cash in a field then forgot which one.
