Preston parking

Where's suitable for parking on saturday? Usually get a coach to Preston away but I'm driving for this one so wondered if there's any good spots people are aware of.

I see from google maps that there's loads of housing around the ground but suspect there maybe parking restrictions in place.

Usually park on Sainsbury's via yourparkingspace app but it's full.

Morrisons a bit further up the road is £2.75 from 11-4.

St Gregory's school or the church. Fiver, I think and is probably the closest you can park without paying PNE.

I've always parked behind St Gregs. Head towards the retail park and turn left at the Church/School. Watch yourself after the game, but never had a problem.

The most obvious place is where they have the white signs with PP on an emblem. Take no notice of any complaints and park on the white sign. The screeching won't be your brakes.

Will the police let you walk to Sainsburys or St Gregory’s church area afterwards or will they funnel everyone back the same way to the town centre as they have done previously ?

Penned in on Lowthorpe Rd behind the away stand last year. In short, no, but they might switch up their tactics this time.

I parked on the housing estate behind the The Garrison pub last year. No issues and actually got away pretty quick. I say quick, obviously after having been held back for an hour.

I’m quite surprised that there hasn’t been a update on Saturdays operation plan?

This evening I attended a briefing with Lancashire (Preston) Police alongside representatives of Preston Supporters Collective following an invite I received last week.

We did raise various concerns from a PNE fans aspect taking into recently events into account and safety for all supporters although it was predominately to help us communicate with our members of plans for the game on Saturday.

If anyone has any further sensible questions I will answer them if I can or endeavour to find out.

Pre Match -

The Police are aware of a particular establishment in which away supporters intend to go to pre game, alongside the usual Vic & Station for those traveling by train.
Public Houses that wish to open can do so as normal on the basis they have plastic pots and suitable staff on the doors - It would be up to them who they let in however, other than those previously mentioned none intend on allowing any visiting supporters.

The policing operation around certain areas of Preston will be extensive and particularly for any fans who are required an "escort" to the ground. Previously buses
have been used to take the visitors to Deepdale but no company would be willing to do so on this occasion.

Alcohol will be served on all concourses as soon as the turnstiles open

The away supporters will once again be housed in a 'zone' with ticket checks and entry only from the A5085. All three entrances to the away 'zone' will have additional metal barriers as well as Police with "neutral zones" between them also. The additional barriers are due to a number of incidents last season in which fans from both sides managed to negate the provisions in place.

Half Time
Alcohol will be available in all areas except the Bill Shankly Kop where none will be served for either home or away fans.
We did question why home fans where included in this ban but it was explained that this was following incidents last season from both sets of fans following half time.

Full Time

Due to human rights laws the Police are unable to pre-plan a "lock in" for visiting supporters - however should the need arise for operational or safety reasons visiting fans will be held back for a period after the game whilst the home supporters disperse. Following feedback last season they would however be able to leave the stadium and wait in the visitors 'zone' until it is safe for them to leave the area.

No home supporters will have access to the area of Lowthorpe Road/Bill Shankly Crescent at any point on Saturday.

As reported on here last season there was a few issues upon visitors and North End fans "meeting" on the A5085 - this area will see a significantly higher police presence.

Hopefully other units will not be required but on hand if required - every available police officer in Lancashire is available if required.

There will be a period of time after the game in which Public Houses have been advised to show caution on their entry policy - however, none have been told to close.

That’s been posted on our board if any help

So the plod WILL keep us behind again and let the nobber scrots throw stuff at us again

Cheers

I’m driving there too and was planning on parking at East Cliff, I think it’s about 1.5 mile walk
That's a bit extreme unless you are drinking in town.

I would get there early and park down Garrison rd/Chapman rd or the other side of Watling st Road on Duchy Ave.

Edit: Depending on how far down you park on Chapman road where it becomes Lower Bank rd there is a path through to Blackpool road(Park Walk).

Always parked behind the Garrison pub on the estate there, a 5-7 minute walk to the ground at the end where we are and you can quickly get away to the M55 without hitting too much match traffic if you head towards the hospital after the game.

Which is slightly different to my younger days when we always went by train because the journey to and from the station was always fun and games 😉

I wonder if a completely unplanned lock in for operational reasons will be enforced?

Doc Martens creating a dust storm stomping through Moor Park from the station to the chant of “Oh Mickey, Mickey. Mickey Mickey Mickey Mickey Mickey Burns! Circa 72.

Sounded believable until this bit:
"Due to human rights laws the Police are unable to pre-plan a "lock in" for visiting supporters - however should the need arise for operational or safety reasons visiting fans will be held back for a period after the game whilst the home supporters disperse."
It happens every time without fail. First announcement on 80mins advising us there will be a 15min lock in that in reality turns to 25/30mins then we will be let outside in to a cordon and held for another 45mins...

If you don't mind a bit of a walk, there's loads of street parking on the side roads off plungington road or between Blackpool road and Lytham road. Allow half hour walk from there.

Out of curiosity why do people feel the need to drink ( alcohol) before a 12 30 kick off…..probably those who need a pint at 5 am at Manchester Airport.
Mind you I know who a few who would😉😉…and that’s me off their Xmas Card List….not they ever sent them😀
Miserable sod. It’s the start of a holiday to have an early airport drink.
Likewise it’s part of matchday to have a pint or 2 pre- match.

I heard Mick might park...

the bus in front of their goal and try and nick a win....

Nah sod it he'll go for it...

It concerns me more when people don't have a pint in the airport at 5am when going on holiday. It's part of the holiday buzz. A bit like having beers before the match.

I will be in the Poulton Elk from 0800. Although I am not sure if it doesn't deserve booze til 0900. Can anyone confirm?

Not my holiday it isn’t😉😉…and I was referring to very early in the morning……rather have a cup of tea.😀
It was always a must for me for a 5am pint before a holiday flight, unfortunately with age my water works will make life uncomfortable.
I did have 3 glasses of Champagne at 6 am recently in Manchester airport though. It was rude not to as I flew business class.

Free Champagne, that Might prove too much of a temptation even for me at that time.
Another reason for not taking on board ( no pun intended) too much liquid ( beers that is,not just one cup of tea) pre flight is the queue for the loos😉once airborne.
To be honest the whole airport experience has become a “ grind“ these days and despite living just over a 10 minute drive to MIA we are not planning on any flights for the foreseeable future…..saving up for at least one more Cruise first and foremost(no flights of course😉)

….…..but then if a REAL BARGAIN with flights crops up you never know🙄 but still no beer….once in the hotel then that’s a different matter🍺

If your there at a reasonable time & not in colours I’d suggest parking the other side of Moor Park on the A6/Garstang Road as can fit a few cars down the road there and then just walk through the park before & after.

If you turn your car facing to head up to Broughton your good to fly straight up to J32 after the game or turn left at the lights and head for Blackpool via Ashton/Lea and the new junction they are doing by Lea Gate then choice of going Kirkham way or Freck by pass way.

Bar open at 9 am

That’s what worries me. I am driving too and was tempted to park in town and risk the walk.
There is no problem with walking as long as you aren’t displaying any colours.
There is a small car park at the junction of Skeffington Road and New Hall Lane.
No parking restrictions but you need to get there early to grab a space. About 10 minutes to the ground
