We've had a tough start so far with abot of optimisim from the first 2 games I think the players got over confident. All of a sudden we can't get past port vales brick wall defence 🤣 then we look worse in the next 2 games we have no style of play and look like they don't want it on the pitch. Wolves was inevitable would be abit easier to process if we'd had a better start to our season

I did give him a chance. But it was obvious he wouldn't get much slack from some, therefore a stupid appointment & Critchley is heading for the same fate, I didn't want him back either but again I'm prepared to give him a chance too. He isn't making me feel confident though with his team selections etc & yes I know we are woefully light in some key areas. I'll give him the same chance I gave Appleton & see how we are doing at Christmas.

Dobbie wouldn't be playing 3-5-2 and trying to keep it tight at home to ** Port Vale and Leyton Orient.

Playing 6 players out of position whilst at it!

Why are people so thick?

I don't know.. whoever said connoly at left wingback is a bad shout I totally agree to be fair. Again. Something we could do with sadler splashing for aswell as a decent striker not a none league player with 4 goals an 3 assists in 179 games or some shite

Sadler is too pig headed to sack Critchley and offer Dobbie the job. We're stuck with Critchley until Christmas and in honesty that is the right call. Ultimately last night just confirmed what we already knew, our fringe players aren't up to it. The squad just isn't up to the 532 system Critchley wants to play. That is a massive failing of Sadler and the recruitment team, to not provide him with a squad up to scratch. As for Critchley, considering his elite level coaching, maybe he needs to realise there are other formations that suit what he has at his disposal. I don't hold out much hope of things changing quickly, both are as stubborn as they come.

CJ at right wing back. Marv at centre half after having shocker after shocker. Beesley ever.

He actually has a decent set of players for 4-2-3-1 with the 3 behind the striker rotating and moving. Dale/Apter/Weir/Carey/Morgan. But the guy is too busy reading his ** Fifa Pro Volume 6 hand book of keeping it compact and rigid.

If you watched Wolves last night, they took the piss constantly because their wing backs and attacking players had a license to move around. To run behind the lines.

Our players look like they've been told they have a 10 metre square patch to stand in and that's it. Hoof. Wolves ball to start again. AWFUL.
 
OK, we're bed wetters because we are concerned about the tactics, formation and performance of the team🤷

I'm concerned that Critchley is that stubborn in the way he sets his teams up that after 5 games (with all his fancy badges) he still cannot see its not working.
He has mentioned that they are creating chances but not taking them.
That says to me that a 15+ goals a season striker is paramount on his list, 3 days before the window shuts and we're still no nearer to that striker.
It may well have been the same under Dobbie (if sadler is reluctant to finance player recruitment) but we'll probably never know as Sadler has backed himself into a corner saying that there was only one name that kept cropping up when looking for a manager for this season.
I genuinely hoped for better this season and thought that Sadler would have learned from the clusterfuck of last season but alas, he is replicating all he did last season.
Apart from Norburn who exactly has got the supporters excited at their signings, that added to the sale of our only genuine goal threat!!!

It's all well and good saying it'll be fine in 5, 10, 15 games but how long should it take before action is taken?
I'm not saying sack Critchley but he needs to be told by whoever within the club to change formation (as it clearly isn't working) or purchase players that CAN play in it.

I agree, sometimes the reaction to bad performances and defeats can be ott but on the flip side surely all those who say give more time can see that it isn't time we need, it's the right coaching and management and to that end it's Critchley who should carry the can for the current situation as he's clearly not getting the best out of HIS players.

Most of the players were here the last time he was and some posters are pissing themselves with excitement at what he did before. Yet now you’re saying the players look wank, you can’t be right in both scenarios.

I think with the players we have the formation should work and it's probably the best one suited to them too. What doesn't work is playing too many players out of position, having a midfield three of which he pushes two of them too wide when we are trying to build up play and finally his failure to not get some decent strikers in.

I had some good ones yesterday as when I am out gardening I have to live with them, it was The Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy and Faith Healer by SAHB, it is usually something like chitty chatty bang bang which can affect your mental health, and this around me if I'm whistling it!! 😂

I’m not suggesting all our players are poor for one minute but we have some players who simply aren’t good enough at this level more alarmingly some of them have only just arrived this season.
Apart from Norburn and possibly Connelly and Husband I’ve yet to be convinced by anyone else this season they are good enough to get us out of this league.

Only on AVFTT could you get a thread where the o/p starts out suggesting giving the manager a chance, and a random typo steers us down a path of the Sound of Music, Bucks Fizz, Jewish Ceremonies and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

What's so good about Connolly, he's a steady league 1 defender, can cover a few defensive positions, has a decent attitude but he shouldn't be in our best starting 11 in any position.
