Seriously thinking about getting one, have read up loads, and the general consensus is, there great cars but not very reliable.

Curious to know if any one on here has one, had one or works with cars and knows there stuff.
Thanks

Uncle has had them for years, wouldn't have anything else, don't think he's had any more problems than me with my different vehicles over the same time.

I know a few with land rovers & they seem to be almost a hobby. Similar ages to my car but from the conversations I’ve heard spend a considerable more time in dock & they both bought the fault diagnosis plug in devices for about £500.

Well there’s a Tangerine exile who is a director of JLR based in Germany.

Are you looking at new or second hand. If you are going to a branded dealership Kentdale in south Lakes (Kendal) are very good. The others like Inchape are shockingly bad.

Looking, or possibly not now, a second hand one. About 25k budget.

My sister had one as she's a coke dealer (horsey type really) and it was like a living nightmare to be honest, utter shite built by wankers.

Although she did have a Disco before that and it barely gave her any problem.

In summary, buy a Land Cruiser instead.

I have a 2022 Range Rover, it's been a good car so far.

I've had one problem, which was a bonnet catch sensor which was showing the bonnet open when it was firmly shut, but the dealer fixed it in 15 minutes. Apart from that I'm at 38000 miles without a hitch.

Be prepared for high insurance costs, Range Rovers dominate the lists of the most stolen cars in Europe. JLR can offer insurance for purchasers which is much better than high street insurers.

I have an Evoque and love it ,have it looked after by Auto Expert at Lytham great garage ,not had too much wrong with it in 3 years .

Must admit I was thinking of a used one after the new reg comes out probably late March. I've read similar horror stories as above so I'd only go for a 1 owner, v low miles, dealer with extended (real) warranty.

It had struck me that later models have improved on reliability and the insurance was nowhere near as prohibitive as suggested.

Would put a private plate on- D19BFC has now gone- and would park opposite The Taps for that special half of shandy.

My missus had an evoque
It had this weird way particle filter that clogged up if you didn't drive it for long enough for it to get hot and it then went into limp mode
So basically you were told you had to drive it regularly on the motorway or it was useless
Looked great but got rid

Get yourself a blue badge for the double yelllows but you’ll be competing with the Panameras and Cayennes.

If you spend more than 15k on a car you're a clown. They are a ridiculous depreciating asset, I'd sooner have a load of cash in the bank and drive something basic than have nothing in the bank and drive around in a 50k car. The wet wipes who pay 500 quid plus a month on a lease car should have their license revoked due to a lack of brain power.
I thought about getting an electric car or a pickup through my business, that lasted about 30 seconds when I saw the figures, eye-watering nonsense.

So… what do we all drive and what would we recommend? In the SUV, large capacity, muscle car, penis-extension models? Anything under a 2-litre engine need not reply.

I hope that was all Mrs TAM had that went into limp mode! 😂

I had a 2015 Range Rover, kept it for 3 years and had few issues . Went for another Discovery when I traded it in (my 4th) for the longer wheelbase and bigger boot for my Labrador, 7 seats too when needed. But both lovely vehicles that I adore driving. I guess I’m now hooked.

I should have added I have an E Class Mercedes, a 23 plate from new. I’d say the Range Rover and Discovery have had fewer faults/snags.

My daughter has the same model and was given the same advice after it going to the garage twice for costly repairs. Every 2 weeks she now does a motorway run to Lancaster and back and so far it has been ok.
