Reading match abandonment

If Reading choose to use their final fixture to protest against their owner, to the point the match is abandoned, what are the consequences of that?

Is it a replay or are we awarded a draw?

It’s 3-0 if it doesn’t get played at all I believe. If it’s postponed I think it’s the result which stands. If it has a material impact on the league we’re at the mercy of the EFL and FA… so I’ve little faith there !

Ask Huddersfield… it’s not like a few are still bitter…

Well, when Blackpool vs Huddersfield was abandoned the 0-0 stood, I've heard that some fans still have their tickets to this day. However if we get a draw and subsequently miss out on the play offs by 1 point, there will be uproar.

Was there anything to play for in that game though?

We’re not Huddersfield given a 3 0 win because it meant they moved up a place and got more money. Sorry if I’m wrong. Harsh if they weren’t.

Some Huddersfield fans seem to reckon the 3 points would have propelled them into the Champions League and no doubt staved off relegation this season

Searched it now, was nothing game.

But...

"The board took the view that the 0-0 score line that stood at the time of the game's abandonment should be officially recorded as the final result of the match, as it believes that league points should always be earned on the field of play," said a statement.

Oh ffs, if we make playoffs by getting awarded a 3-0 win by forfeit it will be the perfect scapegoat for the bellwhiffs on ere to continue moaning about the team and manager 🙄 … still take it tho lol

The Huddersfield game was inconsequential because it didn't change anything - I think this would be played behind closed doors either at kick off or later in the day.

If the game is abandoned and there is still something riding on the result, there is no way that game will not be played again, or continued from the time of it being abandoned, probably behind closed doors in the evening or following day to ensure all sorted for play offs

Indeed. Police would give time for protests to finish, empty the stadium and then they would play it out behind closed doors.

Two things first. We need to win today. And Reading fans are on notice that after they got a game abandoned in Jan, they will get a points deduction if they do it again. Expect protests before during and after, but not an abandonment…
